The iPhone SE (2022) is a phone that fits current features into a classic design that is so small it’s almost cute. Some people might also say it’s old-fashioned. But even though it has a retro feel, the end result is pretty interesting for people on a budget. For $429, you get 5G connectivity and the same A15 Bionic processor that’s in the iPhone 13.
This means you’ll get the best speed in its class and great photos. Apple also says that the new SE will be more durable and have a battery life that is two hours longer than the iPhone SE (2020). Even though you don’t get Face ID, some people may prefer the familiar Home button with Touch ID to quickly open their phone.

Apple iPhone SE (2022): Design

On the other hand, this phone isn’t made for me. It’s for people who like small phones and are probably upgrading from an iPhone 8 since the screen is the same size and the style is almost the same. This is a small device, as it only weighs 5.09 ounces and has dimensions of 5.45 x 2.85 x 0.29 inches. It makes my iPhone 13 Pro Max look like a mountain, and we did like using a phone we could easily hide in my pocket. We also liked that we could do most things with just one hand. You can buy this phone from its official website
Apple iPhone SE (2022): Display
The 4.7-inch Retina HD screen on the iPhone SE (2022) has a resolution of 1334 x 750 and Apple’s True Tone color technology. Its small size and low resolution give it a pixel density of 326ppi, which is the same as that of the iPhone 11, which is Apple’s next-to-cheapest new iPhone.
But it’s not even close to any of the newest models, which have a pixel density of 476ppi and look much better. It’s not surprising that the screen feels small if you’re used to almost any other current smartphone, but the quality and excellent color accuracy of the iPhone SE (2022)’s screen make sure it never looks downright bad.
Apple iPhone SE (2022): Cameras

Phones are becoming more and more like cameras, and any phone that doesn’t do well in this area is asking for trouble. Even though the iPhone SE (2022) only has two lenses that are the same as the ones on the SE 2020, it still takes shots that look good, have accurate colors, and are often very beautiful.
The 12MP wide-angle lens on the back is now supported by the A15 Bionic’s image processing and Smart HDR 4 and Deep Fusion, which were launched with the A13 Bionic and were in the last iPhone SE.
Apple iPhone SE (2022): Performance
Apple has full control over its production lines and parts, so it’s easy to take a cutting-edge feature from one of its newest products and put it in a design it came up with more than three years ago. The A15 Bionic is Apple’s most powerful mobile chip, so putting it in the iPhone SE’s tiny body is like putting rocket engines on a bicycle. To be clear, this is not a form of Apple’s chip that has been slowed down or slowed down too much. The iPhone SE (2022) has the same Geekbench 5 score as the A15 Bionic in the iPhone 13 mini. It’s important to note that the phone now has 4GB of RAM, which will help it run better.
Apple iPhone SE (2022): Battery Life
When the small battery is actually put to work, it takes a hit as well. When I played Sky for 30 minutes with the screen light at 50%, 20% of the battery was gone. Streaming TV shows isn’t as hard on the battery as you might think. For example, a 35-minute episode of Our Flag Means Death used only 5% of the battery when the screen brightness and sound were both set to 50%. Even if you chat and browse a bit during the day.
Price and availability
Although it’s more expensive than its predecessor, the iPhone SE (2022) is still Apple’s least expensive 5G smartphone at $429 (or £419 or AU$719). The iPhone 12 mini starts at $599, while the iPhone 13 mini costs $699, £679, or AU$1,199. It’s annoying that Apple is still offering a phone with only 64GB of storage space. You can get this phone, which records video at up to 4K resolution and 60 frames per second, from the Apple online shop.
Final words
Apple’s changes to the iPhone SE 2022 under the hood make sure it has more than enough power for anything that could be thrown at it, but the phone is too simple to need most of that power. A new iPhone SE might have made sense two years ago, but now Apple’s “mini” iPhones fit the small phone mold better with a more modern look and more features.
Apple iPhone SE (2022) review: The good and The bad

The Bad

FAQS
When compared to more expensive iPhone models, the camera quality is disappointing. When compared to iPhone models that are physically larger but have larger batteries, this one has noticeably worse battery life. It’s not IP68 water resistant like the more expensive iPhones. When compared to more expensive iPhone models, the display on this one is tiny and of poor quality.
The new iPhone SE is a great option if you’re upgrading from an earlier model and want a more future-proof device, or if you just don’t want to spend too much on a premium smartphone. However, our Editors’ Choice winner in Apple’s current lineup is the admittedly more expensive iPhone 13 ($799).
