Detachable 2-in-1 devices have the ability to function as laptops or to detach the screen and keyboard components, allowing the user to use the screen section as a tablet. In the ‘tablet-first’ category of detachable 2-in-1s, which Microsoft’s Surface Pro devices exemplify (and in fact started), the screen area is propped up by a kickstand when in laptop mode rather than employing a standard screen/keyboard hinge.
This allows for a more comfortable typing experience. In addition, Microsoft’s Surface Pro 9 takes things to an even higher level. The tests conducted by Compsmag demonstrated that the Microsoft Surface Pro 9 was capable of meeting the requirements for graphic design and photo editing using Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom. The tests also demonstrated that the Surface Pro 9 delivered great front camera performance without producing a “unnatural blush,” and that the Corei7 CPU gracefully handled high workloads.
The Good
- Lightweight and portable design.
- High-resolution PixelSense touchscreen display.
- Versatile as a tablet or laptop with detachable keyboard.
- Support for Surface Pen for note-taking and drawing.
The Bad

Compsmag believes that it is a stand-up laptop for professionals, content creators, and most importantly, Samsung fans. It has a screen measuring 14.4 inches and can function as a laptop, be brought forward to cover the keyboard in’stage’ mode, or be laid virtually flat over the keyboard in tablet (or’studio’ mode) mode. The XPS 15 has been one of the best Windows laptops for creators for years, and the 2022 model is no different. It combines a four-pound chassis with the performance of 45W Intel 12th Generation 45W processors and Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 3050 Ti graphics, while wowing the user with a 3.5K OLED display and a powerful four-speaker setup. A shiny Dell logo is embossed in the center, and that’s the most striking part of the exterior.
The sides are silver, a design that debuted with the XPS 15 9500 a few years ago; before that, the sides matched the black top of the keyboard. It has all the ports you need, as long as they’re USB Type-C. In fact there are three USB Type-C ports, two of which are Thunderbolt 4.
The Good
- Premium build quality and design.
- High-resolution display with excellent color accuracy.
- Powerful performance with latest Intel Core and NVIDIA GeForce processors.

We like the Surface Laptop 4 for its design and ergonomics; it’s perfect for those who are often on the move. It’s also a powerful machine for its size, making it an ideal choice for students. For activities like programming or gaming, however, you’ll need to spend more on higher-spec options. While the Surface Laptop 4 is powerful for a lightweight laptop, it’s not ideal for programming.
That’s not to say that programming enthusiasts should avoid it at all costs; if you’re often on the road and need something comfortable for all-day writing, this may be the laptop for you. However, the Surface Laptop 4 struggled in some instances. It performed well for streaming video and listening to music and was excellent for email, writing and general word processing. Opening multiple tabs simultaneously was not a problem, nor was writing and streaming data simultaneously.
The Good
- Sleek and stylish design.
- High-resolution PixelSense touchscreen display.
- Good performance for productivity tasks.
- Comfortable keyboard and large precision trackpad.
The Bad
- Limited port selection (mainly USB-C and USB-A).
- Battery life could be better, especially on higher-resolution models.

Easily one of the best Windows laptops, the Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 (2022), model GA402R, is a high-end gaming laptop with a slim and lightweight design. It replaces the GA401 model from 2021, with AMD Ryzen 5000 series processors and NVIDIA RTX GPUs, and directly competes with the Razer Blade 14. The 2022 model has a lot of changes: it switches to a 16:10 display and an AMD-only system, with Ryzen 6000 processors and Radeon RX 6700S and 6800S GPUs. ASUS also added a MUX switch for improved performance, a 720p camera and a MicroSD card reader.
The ROG Zephyrus G14 is perfect for gaming. It features a 120 Hz QHD display with fast response time to provide a clear picture in fast-moving scenes and supports VRR to reduce screen tearing. AMD’s CPU and GPU deliver a smooth gaming experience at 1080p and 1440p, although at 1440p you’ll need to lower the settings a bit to achieve 60fps in some games. Unfortunately, the device gets hot and noisy under load and the GPU freezes slightly.
The Good
- Compact and lightweight design for a gaming laptop.
- High refresh rate display for smooth gaming.
- Good battery life compared to other gaming laptops.
The Bad
- Limited port selection, especially for USB-A.

In the top left corner of the lid is a large Yoga sign with a modern, futuristic font. In the bottom right corner is the Lenovo emblem. Open the lid and the solid, sturdy 360-degree hinge will start to work its magic. It has so many tiny holes that it looks like a stainless steel sieve. As I’ll show later, the hinge plays an important role in the sound system.
As mentioned earlier, the Yoga 9i’s 2880 x 1800 pixel display is taller than typical laptop screens because of the 16:10 aspect ratio. Thus, it takes up more screen space when reading long articles or scrolling through spreadsheets. I also love its ultra-thin bezels: even the chin is less thick than usual. Overall, this is one of the best Windows laptops.
The Good
- Flexible 2-in-1 design with a rotating hinge.
- High-resolution touchscreen display.
- Premium build quality and stylish design.
- Good performance for daily tasks and multitasking.
The Bad
- Relatively heavy for a 2-in-1 laptop.
- Battery life may not be as long as some competitors.

14-inch laptops are highly valued by those who regularly use their devices on the go. In this case, stability, display properties, input devices and, last but not least, battery life must be optimal. The Swift 3 easily meets these requirements and takes it a step further by adding Thunderbolt support. Such things makes it one of the best Windows laptops.
Does the 14-inch have what it takes to be a universal mobile device? We can say in advance: This laptop will likely be very well received. Not for nothing did it score high, and in every single discipline. Although the competition is no worse off in terms of overall rating, it sometimes costs much more.
The Good
- Affordable price point for the features offered.
- Slim and lightweight design, great for portability.
- Decent performance for everyday tasks.
- Good selection of ports, including USB-C.
The Bad
- Limited graphics performance for gaming or creative work.
- Display may not be as vibrant or color-accurate.

Measuring 0.78 x 14.3 x 10 inches, the IdeaPad isn’t much larger than two other low-cost 15.6-inch laptops recently tested by PC Labs: the VivoBook 15 (0.78 x 14.1 x 9.1 inches) and the Dell Inspiron 15 3000 (0.78 x 14.3 x 9.8 inches). However, it’s heavier: at 4.84 pounds, it weighs more than the Asus (3.75 pounds) and Dell (3.91 pounds). In addition, the AC adapter is a bulky plug that takes up two slots in an outlet.
Thick bezels surround the display. Pressing your thumbnail against the edge of the top bezel slides a privacy shutter over the webcam. The keyboard includes a numeric keypad; you have to type passwords because there’s no fingerprint reader or facial recognition camera for Windows Hello. Lenovo Vantage software centralizes system updates, Wi-Fi security, file transfers from the old computer, and hardware settings.
The Good
- Budget-friendly price point.
- Adequate performance for basic tasks and web browsing.
- Multiple configuration options available.
- Decent selection of ports.
The Bad
- Build quality and design may not be as premium.
- Limited graphics performance for gaming or demanding tasks.

The Microsoft Surface Pro 8 brings some welcome updates to the family, which now features Intel’s EVO platform. It includes a larger screen, faster computing and connectivity, as well as Windows 11. We purchased and tested the $1698 base model and, when combined with the optional keyboard, found it to be one of the most versatile and one of the best Windows laptops on the market.
The screen has increased from the 12.3 inches of its predecessor to 13 inches and is impressive, with a higher resolution (2880 x 1920 pixels) that makes it better for applications that need a lot of screen space. Microsoft’s “Adaptive Color” feature causes the screen’s color temperature to change automatically to match ambient lighting, similar to Apple’s True Tone feature, which should make it easier to view in different environments.
The Good
- Versatile 2-in-1 design with detachable keyboard.
- High-resolution PixelSense touchscreen display.
- Powerful performance with latest Intel Core processors.
- Slim and lightweight for portability.
The Bad
- Limited lapability compared to traditional laptops.
- Relatively high starting price.

However, a few subtle differences make it clear that this laptop is intended for office use, not gaming. At 0.6 inches thick and 3.09 pounds, it is slightly lighter than the Blade Stealth. Ports are also more extensive than the Stealth, with two Thunderbolt 4, one USB-A 3.2 Gen 1, one HDMI 2.0, a microSD slot, and a combination audio jack. This is another significant advantage the Razer Book has over the XPS 13 and MacBook Pro, which have relatively limited options.
The system completed the most demanding task we gave it with flying colors: our Premiere Pro multimedia test, which involved exporting a 5-minute, 33-second 4K video, took 9 minutes and 21 seconds. This is the fastest time ever achieved by a system with a quad-core 1165G7 (found in many of the best ultraportables on the market); the XPS 13 took 10 minutes 43 seconds for the same task, while the more powerful XPS 13 2-in-1 took 10 minutes 5 seconds. Overall, this is one of the best Windows laptops.
The Good
- Sleek and stylish design.
- High-resolution display with excellent color accuracy.
- Powerful performance with Intel Core processors.
- Compact and portable.
The Bad
- Battery life may not be as long as other ultrabooks.
- Limited availability of service centers.

The 165HZ refresh rate of the MSI Creator Z17 screen makes fast-moving objects smooth, and the pixel response time minimizes ghosting. This means it is great for both fast-moving multimedia and gaming. The bright screen helps with contrast, and details are visible in both bright and dark areas.

How to Choose a Best Windows Laptop?
When picking a Windows laptop, here are some things to think about:
- Processor: The processor is the laptop’s brain, and its general performance is based on how well it works. Most people will be fine with an Intel Core i5 or i7 chip. If you are a gamer or a creative worker, you might want to think about getting an Intel Core i9 processor or an AMD Ryzen 9 processor.
- RAM: RAM, which stands for “random access memory,” holds the data that the machine is currently using. If you have more RAM, you can run more apps at the same time without slowing down. Most computers come with 8GB of RAM, but for heavy users, 16GB is better.
- Storage is where you keep your files, photos, movies, and other kinds of information. Solid-state drives (SSDs) and hard drives (HDDs) are the two main types of storage. SSDs are faster than HDDs and last longer, but they also cost more. HDDs cost less, but they are slower and don’t last as long.
