Guide: Play Steam Games on Android TV – Guide
Steam is a household name – or at least when it comes to games. Since its first release in 2003, Valve’s popular distribution platform has become one of the top sources for those who want to download and install games on their PC, so gamers can play the best games without having to buy physical copies at the store. Steam Link lets you play Steam games on Android, iOS and even the Raspberry Pi. In that guide, let’s show you how to prepare up.
Most games work with Steam Link, from the most popular Steam games to the obscure ones. If you don’t have a big Steam account or PC, you can also use your Android phone to stream Xbox games through the wonders of cloud gaming.
Activate Remote Play and Steam Link
First, make sure Remote Play is enabled on the PC you want to stream your games from. Open Steam on that PC, click “Steam -> Settings -> Remote Play” and make sure the “Enable Remote Play” box is checked.
At this point, if there is a non-Steam game you want to play on your TV, add it to Steam by clicking “Add a Game” in the lower left corner of Steam and “Add a non-Steam Game”. Select all the games you want to add and click “Add Selected Programs”.
Then download the Steam Link app to your TV. If you have an Android TV, download the Steam Link app via the Play Store on the TV. On a Samsung TV, you will find the Steam Link app on the Samsung Smart Hub.
Connect controller to TV
Connect controller via Bluetooth
Now it’s time to connect the gamepad to the TV. Most TVs have Bluetooth and you should be able to access the TV Settings, find the Bluetooth option and look for the controller. Your controller will need to be in pairing mode for your TV to find it.
Connect controller in another way
If your TV does not have Bluetooth, an alternative is to connect your controller to it using a USB cable. Or, if you really want to use wireless technology, you can get a wireless dongle like the 8Bitdo Bluetooth adapter, which plugs into the back of the TV and transmits a Bluetooth signal to the controller.
