Method 1: Clear the Settings app’s clipboard history

  • Click on the “System” block.
  • Use the left side panel to switch to the “Clipboard” tab. You may need to scroll down while hovering over this panel to see the tab.
  • Locate the heading “Clear Clipboard Data”.
  • Click on the “Clear” button button when you are ready to delete clipboard history. Press Windows + V keys to open the clipboard panel and check that all items except pinned items are gone.

    • Method 2: Completely clear clipboard history

  • Open the Start menu on the taskbar (indicated by the Windows icon) and select “Settings”. For those who like shortcuts more, you can open the application using the keyboard combination Windows + I.
  • Click on the “System” block.
  • Use the left side panel to switch to the “Clipboard” tab. You may need to scroll down while hovering over this panel to see the tab.
  • Locate the “Save Multiple Items” heading. Make sure the toggle under it is set to “Off”.

  • Open the clipboard window by pressing Windows + V keys on your keyboard.
  • Click the three dots in the corner of the clipboard item you want to delete.
  • Select the “Delete” option to permanently remove this item from the clipboard history.
  • Repeat this for all items you want to remove from clipboard history.

    • Method 4: Use “Clear All” button

  • Open the clipboard window by pressing Windows + V keys on your keyboard.
  • Click the three dots in the corner of any clipboard item you want to delete.
  • Select the “Clear All” option to permanently remove all unpinned clipboard history items. This can be repeated at any time, however, there is no undo option, so we suggest you stay tuned or pin important items in advance.

    • Method 5: Run a command from the command prompt

  • Press Windows + R keys on the keyboard. that will bring up the Run utility.
  • Type “cmd” and press the Ctrl + Shift + Enter keys on your keyboard. By doing this, you are launching the command prompt with administrative permissions.
  • If prompted, click Yes to allow the command prompt to make changes to your device.
  • Once at the command prompt, type the following command and press Enter to run it: cmd /c “echo off | clip”
  • You can now close the command prompt and check the cleared clipboard history using the Windows + V keyboard shortcut.

    • Method 6: Create a shortcut to delete clipboard history items

  • Right-click on any empty space on the desktop and choose New → Shortcut.
  • Use the input field in “Enter the location of the item” and put in the following line: cmd /c “echo off | clip”
  • click next button and name your shortcut whatever you want. When finished, just click the Finish button button.
  • Double-click the shortcut you created to clear the clipboard history.
