How to Download Multiple Photos from Google Photos – Guide
Want to download all your photos and videos from Google Photos? It’s not as simple as it sounds: while uploading media to Google’s photo backup platform is simple enough, taking all your Snaps out of the cloud and putting them on a hard drive can take a little more work. Why do you want to download all your photos from Google? While the cloud is a secure and affordable way to store your photos, it’s not a bad idea to support up your library. If you’ve already been blocked from accessing your Google Account, you’ll still be able to access your images. And if you’re going somewhere with limited Internet services, offline copies can be more reliable than syncing to the cloud.
Another important reason to consider downloading all of your photos from Google Photos is the policy change that will take effect on June 1, 2021. After that date, Google will no longer offer unlimited free storage for ‘High Quality’ photos ‘: Any recent ‘High Quality ‘uploads will count towards your account’s storage quota – as will any existing ‘Original ‘photos. You will have quality images.
Download photos on Android / iOS devices
Here it is how to download photos from Google Photos on your Android / iOS phone or tablet. Firstly, you need to make sure that the Google Photos app is installed on your device. Otherwise, go to Google Play / App Store and download. Once downloaded and installed, tap the app icon to use it. If you’re prompted to sign in, use your Google credentials to do so.
Once in Google Photos, find the photo/video you want to save and select it. Then tap the three dot icon and select Save to device or Download from the menu. This will save the photo / video on your Android / iOS phone or tablet.
Download photos to the desktop
Downloading photos and videos to your computer is a very common thing. You might want to edit the videos, back up the files, and so on. The approach here is slightly different from mobile/tablet versions of the Google Photos app. In fact, you won’t even use the app, just the website.
Go to photos.google.com and select the photo you want to save. Open it and navigate to the top right corner of the screen, click the three dot icon and select Download. This will save the photo(s) you selected on your computer.
Downloading multiple photos from Google Photos
Of course, you can download more than one photo from Google Photos. To do this, simply select multiple photos, whatever device you’re using, navigate to the three-dot icon, click/tap on it and select Download. This will automatically download all selected photos to your device.
Another way to select and download multiple photos is to select them by date. Above each series of photos you took in one day, you have a date they were taken. There should be a checkmark you can select near that date. Selecting this checkmark will automatically check all photos taken on that specific day. Click the three dot icon and select Download to save all photos to your device.
Finally, there is a way to download all your Google Photos content. Keep in mind that this won’t delete your Google Photos content; it will only download to your device.
First go to this page. You will see a list of all things related to Google. At the top of the list on the right side, select Uncheck All. Then scroll down until you find the Google Photos entry. Alternatively, use the browser’s search option to find the entry. Then check the box to the right of the entry. Then select Next, located at the bottom of the list.
Now, if you only want to export the photos at this point, leave the Export once option selected. Alternatively, if you want the export to take place every two months for a year, select this option.
Now select the file type and other settings and go to Create Export. Keep in mind that this export can take hours, even days, depending on how much content we’re talking about. Once this is done, you will be notified and will be able to download these files.
