How to Enable/Disable Dark Mode on WhatsApp

Make sure you have the latest version of WhatsApp from Google Play installed.

Your Android device must be rooted to proceed with the solution.

Download and install Turbo Editor from Google Play.

Instructions

Open the Turbo Editor.

Click Open a file.

A window will load showing the files in your storage.

Go to date/data and locate the com.whatsapp folder.

Click on the shared_prefs folder.

Open the com.whatsapp_preferences.xml file by selecting it.

Inside the XML file, add the following line

Click Save and exit the application.

Open configuration.

Tap Apps.

Scroll down, find and select WhatsApp.

On the app’s settings page, tap Force close.

Now, open WhatsApp.

Click on the three dots button at the top right corner.

Tap Settings.

Select Theme option under Account Settings.

Click on Dark.

Dark mode will now be enabled in your WhatsApp app.

You can leave the system default setting to enable dark mode when the system itself switches to dark mode.
