With a password lock, you can lock your Telegram messages with Face ID, Touch ID, fingerprint, PIN or a screen lock pattern. If your device is lost or stolen, you can be sure that no one will be able to access and use your account if you don’t have the code.

How to enable fingerprint lock for Telegram

  • Open the Telegram app and select the three-bar menu icon in the upper left corner of the window.
  • From the menu, select Settings.
  • Select the Privacy & Security option in the Settings section.
  • Scroll down to the Security section and select Password Lock.
  • Activate the key for password lock.
  • In the next window, you can tap on the PIN option at the top to choose between setting a four-digit PIN or an alphanumeric password. When done, tap the checkmark icon in the top right corner to confirm the changes.
  • The next window shows the Unlock with Fingerprint Enabled option by default. Underneath it you can choose auto-block duration for Telegram to automatically block the app if you are away for 1 minute, 5 minutes, 1 hour or 5 hours.
  • You can keep the Show app content in task switcher option enabled if you want to take screenshots (except secret conversations) in the app. If you disable it, the content of Telegram messages will be hidden in Task Switcher.
