How to Find and Search PDFs in Google – Guide
Finding a particular type of document on the Internet is sometimes like looking for a needle in a haystack. Many search terms entered into Google return hundreds of web pages, especially in popular subject areas. Google marks all PDF (Portable Document Format) files under each heading in the search results, but searching through tons of pages to find PDF results is frustrating and time-consuming. Save time by restricting your Google searches to returning only PDF documents.
The problem seems to be with Google’s servers. The inability to use the Search feature in terms of a PDF document in Google Drive is very complicated and frustrating, and I found that another Google user had a similar experience when searching words on PDFs that Drive made and there are no replies or comments on your post.
Enter your search terms into the Google homepage search field. Enter keywords that will return documents to the relevant subject area. For example, if you’re looking for the PDF for a specific book, type the full title of the book and enclose it in quotation marks so that the search will return only those results. To choose from a variety of documents, enter words relevant to the topic. You can view each result as a PDF by clicking the link or as a web page by clicking “View as HTML” in each result.
How to Search PDF on Google
Searching for a specific document on Google displays hundreds of similar files. If you search for example for a specific topic, several files from the same topics will be displayed and therefore it becomes extremely difficult to find the target file. In fact, files of different types will be displayed, which makes finding the specific PDF file more complex. However, by narrowing your search using specific instructions, you can easily search and locate the respective PDF file with ease, as explained below.
Open a PDF file
Access the main window. Locate and click on the “Open File” tab to open the file explorer window. Choose the PDF file you want to find the target word and click “Open” to load it. The PDF file will be automatically loaded and loaded into the program.
Search PDF text
Locate and click on the “Search” icon in the left pane. The search bar will automatically appear so that you can enter the word you want to search for. Select the desired match option by choosing between “Match case” and “Match whole word”. Enter your keyword into the search box and click the search trigger icon or simply press the “Enter” key on your keyboard. The match results will be displayed in the search box while the respective words will be highlighted in the PDF file itself. Browse and identify the word you were looking for and substitute if you like.
Alternatively, press the “Ctrl + F” combination buttons on the keyboard to display a “Find” window in the upper-right corner of the main window. Type the desired word into the Find box and press “Enter” button to start the search. The program will then highlight the search results in the PDF file itself. Use the Find “Previous” and “Next” buttons to find the target word.
