How to Free Up Your iCloud Space – Guide
when you sign up for iCloud, you get 5GB of free storage. You can use this space to store your iCloud backups, your photos and videos in iCloud Photos, and your documents in iCloud Drive, among other things. You can always monitor how much iCloud storage you’re using in your device settings or on iCloud.com. If you run out of space, you can always do more or upgrade to iCloud +.

If you run out of iCloud storage, your device will stop backing up up to the cloud, new photos and videos won’t upload to iCloud Photos and iCloud Drive, other iCloud apps, and messages won’t sync across all your devices. Make more space available on iCloud
you can free up iCloud storage by deleting content you are not using:
Reduce the size of your iCloud backup
Choose which apps to support up on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch
- Go to Settings> [your name] > iCloud.
- Tap Manage Storage > Backups.
- Tap the name of the device you are using.
- Turn off any apps you don’t want to restore up.
- Choose Shutdown and Delete.
Delete backups and turn off iCloud Backup for your device
iPhone, iPad and iPod touch
- Go to Settings> [your name]and tap iCloud.
- Tap Manage Storage > Backups.
- Tap the name of the device whose backup you want to delete.
- Tap Delete backup > Shut down and delete.
Mac
- Go to Apple menu > System Preferences > Apple ID and click iCloud.
- Click Manage and select Backups.
- Select one of the device backups and click – to delete. If you want to turn off backup and remove all backups for this device from iCloud, choose Delete when prompted for confirmation.
Delete photos in iCloud Photos
iPhone, iPad and iPod touch
- Open the Photos app and tap Photos at the bottom of the screen.
- Tap Select and choose one or more photos or videos you want to delete.
- Tap Delete
and then tap Delete photo.
Mac
- Open the Photos app.
- Select the photos and videos you want to delete.
- Press the delete key on your keyboard, right-click or right-click and choose Delete (#) photos. Then click Delete to confirm.
iCloud.com
- On your iPhone, iPad, or computer, go to iCloud.com.
- Tap the Photos app.
- Select the photos or videos you want to delete.
- Tap Delete
and tap Delete.

- Go to Settings> [your name]and tap iCloud.
- Tap Manage Storage.
- Tap Backups.
- Tap the name of the device you are using and then look at Photos
- Open Photos.
- Select the item you want to delete.
- Tap Delete
and tap Delete photo.
Delete folders or files on iCloud Drive
iPhone, iPad or iPod touch
- Go to the Files app and tap Browse.
- In Places, tap iCloud Drive.
- Tap More button
and tap Select.
- Choose the folders or files you want to delete and tap Delete

- Go to Places > Recently Deleted.
- Tap More button
and tap Select.
- Choose the files you want to delete.
- Tap Delete. Then tap Delete to confirm.
Mac
- Open Finder and go to the iCloud Drive folder.
- Drag an item to the Trash or move it to a different folder on your Mac.
- Open the Recycle Bin and right-click on the files you want to delete.
- Select Delete Immediately. Then click Delete to confirm.

- On your iPad or computer, log on to iCloud.com.
- Tap the iCloud Drive app.
- Select the files you want to delete and tap Delete

- Open the iCloud Drive folder and tap Recently Deleted.

Delete texts and attachments in messages
iPhone or iPad
To delete a message or attachment, follow these steps:
- In a message conversation, tap and hold the message balloon or attachment you want to delete.

- Tap Delete
and tap Delete message. If you want to delete all messages from the conversation, tap Delete All in the upper left corner. Then tap Delete conversation.
To delete multiple attachments from a contact or conversation, follow these steps:

- Swipe left on any message to delete it.
- Go to your mailboxes and choose the Trash folder.
- To delete one message at a time, swipe left on each message. To delete everything, tap Edit, tap Select all, then tap Delete. Tap Delete All to confirm.
Mac
iCloud.com
- Log in to iCloud.com.
- Select Mail and choose the Trash folder.
- To delete one message at a time, select the message you want to delete and select Trash button
. To delete multiple messages, select the messages you want to delete and select Delete.
Delete voice memos
iPhone, iPad or iPod touch
- Tap Delete
and then open Recently Deleted.
- Tap Edit.
- Tap Delete All or select voice memos and tap Delete.
Mac
- Select the voice memos you want to delete.
- Click on Delete
.
- Open Recently Deleted and click Delete.
- Click Delete Forever.
