How to get the Moonveil katana – Guide
Elden Ring has a huge arsenal of quirky and fun weapons, and hidden within the mountain are some gems that are ridiculously powerful. Among the best of these, especially early on, is the Moon Veil Katana. The Moon Veil offers many of the traditional benefits of other katanas, such as fast swing speed and good bleeding stats, with the added bonus of an awesome Ash of War skill that deals massive damage, especially on bosses.
Here it is how to get the Moon Veil Katana and what else to equip and upgrade to transform into a boss-killing samurai mage. You can obtain Moon Veil by defeating Magma Wyrm, the final boss of the Gael Tunnel dungeon in Caelid. While the boss can be a bit tricky, thanks in large part to its awkward, hard-to-dodge sprint attack, it’s still killable very early on in the game, especially if you have magic or a katana for the bleed effect.
To wield Moon Veil, you need 12 Strength, 18 Dexterity, and 23 Intelligence. To get the most out of this weapon, you will need to put some upgrade points into Intelligence and Dexterity. While most of your damage comes from the weapon’s war ash, it’s worth upgrading one of these two stats so you’re not completely vulnerable when you run out of FP.
How to get Moonveil in Elden Ring
To obtain the Moonveil Katana in Elden Ring, you must first travel northwest of Caelid, south of the road leading to the Limgrave region. There, near a small camp of Radahn soldiers, you’ll find the entrance to the Gael Tunnel. Progress through this dungeon until you find the Magma Wyrm mini-boss.
While this boss looks imposing, it’s actually a lot easier to defeat than you think. He will only attack by trying to attack you, spit fire at you, or swing a big sword at you. These attacks do a lot of damage, but they are also very telegraphic and easy to dodge. It also takes a long time for the wyrm magma to attack you again after it misses, so attack as many attacks as you can while you have good opportunities to do so. When the Magma Wyrm dies, it will drop Moon Veil for you.
