They’re fine for pure desktop work, but that doesn’t mean the entire spreadsheet has to be one giant table of individual cells. How to Remove browser gridlines
If you’re using Google Sheets in your browser, removing the gridlines isn’t really difficult. However, it’s a little different from how you would do it in Excel. So it’s understandable if you’re having trouble with that, if you’re new to Google Sheets.
How to Remove application grid lines
If you’re not using the browser, here’s how to remove gridlines from the Google Sheets app:
Gridlines are still there when printing
Here’s the thing. While Google Sheets understands that gridlines can be distracting when working in a spreadsheet, it doesn’t hide them forever. If you use the previous two methods to hide them, the printed sheet will still have gridlines. Therefore, you also need to remove this option from the print formatting options.
Alternatively, uncheck the Show Gridlines option on the Formatting tab.
You can do this by working with gridlines on or off. If they don’t bother you, leave them on. Then use the print dialog to remove them from the printed version.
