Load animated images and GIFs from a PC

  • If you want to insert images (including animated GIFs) from your computer, you can easily do that in Google Slides.
  • Open your Google Slides presentation and click Insert > Image > Upload from Computer to select your chosen image.
  • Find the image file on your computer and insert it into your presentation.
  • If you chose a static image file (for example, a JPG or PNG file), the image will appear on the selected slide.
  • Animated GIFs will repeat, showing the same brief scene over and over.
  • You can start editing images in Google Slides after you’ve inserted them. If the GIF doesn’t load, you may need to enter it by URL.

    • Inserting images and animated GIFs by URL

  • Google Slides lets you link to external image files, including animated GIFs from sources like GIPHY. Make sure you have permission to use and link to an external image file before inserting it.
  • To do this, open your Google Slides presentation. On any slide you want to add the image to, click Insert > Image > By URL.
  • In the “Insert Image” box, paste the URL into your still image or GIF.

    You can insert images and GIFs from Google Drive and Google Photos cloud storage directly into a Google Slides presentation that you have access to.

  • To insert images from Google storage, open your presentation and click Insert > Image. Choose “Photos” to upload an image from Google Photos storage or “Drive” to upload an image from Google Drive storage.
  • In the menu on the right, find a suitable image (or multiple images). When ready, click the “Insert” button button in the background.

  • Google Slides supports the ability to take and insert photos from an embedded or attached file camera connected to your PC. Your web browser must have access to your camera to do this.
  • Open your Slides presentation and click Insert > Image > Camera.

  • Google Slides lets you take advantage of Google’s massive search capabilities to find images on the web. You can search for images using a built-in image search, which allows you to insert the found images directly into your Google Slides presentation.
  • Unfortunately, you cannot easily find and insert GIFs using this method. You will need to download them first or enter them using a URL.
  • To get started, open your Google Slides presentation and press Insert > Image > Search the Web.
  • A search menu will appear on the right. Use the search bar provided to search for images. Click to select any of the images that appear, then press the “Insert” button button below to add them to your presentation.
