How to Install Turbo Pascal On an Android and Tablet – Guide

Despite being the oldest, Turbo Pascal is one of the most used Pascals today. Turbo Pascal was designed to run on DOS PCs, but today’s Smartphones are just as capable as PCs and can even run DOS without lag. So, in this post, we are going to teach you how to effortlessly install and use Turbo Pascal on your Android phone or tablet, allowing you to develop and run apps on the go.

Requirements:-

  • We will need Borland’s official turbo Pascal binaries to compile the files.
  • Now, as turbo Pascal is DOS based, we will need a dos emulator, to emulate the dos environment to run it.
  • However, there are many DOS emulators – DOSBox available on the Play Store that we will use – Magic DoxBox Free as it is very easy to configure turbo pascal inside it.
  • Also, being made for magic games, DOSBox free even supports mouse, making our task easier.

    • Steps to install Turbo Pascal

    step . 1 – Configuring Dos Box & Turbo Pascal (Just a one-time configuration process) –

  • First of all, download and extract the turbo pascal binary zip files into a folder on your device Now that we have extracted the zip files to the internal storage -> Download. The Tp Directory files are accessible at “Internal StorageDownloadTp” . So the “internalstoragedownload” is our way
  • Now after downloading and installing the free Magic Doxbox app, launch the app, it will show a welcome screen, click ‘x’ to close the message screen.
  • On the next black screen – click the “+” icon to add a new game and select the “New Game” option.
  • The setup screen will now ask for the game’s title and path (which is Turbo Pascal in our case). Here, we need to specify the path where we kept our binaries. On this screen, click on “choose”. Now, browse using folder view until the choose folder option shows the “TP” folder in the location where you extracted the TP.zip files.
  • Once you see the “TP” folder as shown in the image below, just tap the “Checkmark” or “✓” sign. Do not click or open the TP folder.
  • The Turbo Pascal icon will now be shown on the black screen as shown below – This is what you have completed the single set up process .

    • Step.2 – Running Turbo Pascal and starting directly for subsequent uses –

  • Now, to run Turbo Pascal for subsequent uses, simply click on the Turbo Pascal icon within the Magic Doxbox application. Here, you will see the DOSBoxosbox black screen.
  • Here we need to enter the Turbo pascal binary path to run turbo pascal in case your keyboard doesn’t show up – Please press the back key of your Phone! & select keyboard.
  • Now on the black screen we need to enter the path of Turbo C to run it, to run the Turbo C file type the following commands one by one on the black screen –
  • Type “cd tp” (press enter or return/newline key on keyboard)
  • Now type “cd bin” (press enter or return/newline key on keyboard)
  • type “turbo” (press enter or return/newline key on keyboard)
  • That’s it!! your Turbo Pascal will now launch and open! Now you can access all keyboard, mouse functions and start Pascal programming directly on your Android device. , especially the mouse pointer area and mouse movement as shown in the image above Also, the best part is that this totally works without SD card or memory card, so it will work on all Android phones!
