How to Lock Apps to the Screen on your Android Device – Guide

If you want to spend our phone for someone and you don’t want them to look for another app or exit the app, you can do that with an Android smartphone. The “Screen Fixation” feature is integrated into the Android operating system and locks the smartphone to a specific application that can only be closed after entering the password.

This function works on almost all Android smartphones running Android 7.0 Nougat and above. This feature locks smartphone for that app so user can’t exit that app or multitask to change app.

How to Lock apps on Android with screen pinning

  • Open Settings and select Security or Biometrics & Security > Other Security Settings.
  • Scroll down to Advanced.
  • Select the toggle next to Pin Windows. .
  • Turn on the Screen pinning toggle switch to enable screen pinning.
  • Select Ask for PIN before unpinning to enable it for added security.
  • Select the Overview icon (the square at the bottom of the screen) and tap the icon for the app you want to pin.
  • Select Pin this app.
  • Press and hold Back and Overview simultaneously to unpin the app.
  • Enter your pin, pattern, password or biometric security option to unpin the screen.
  • The app is unpinned.

    • For Android 8.0 Oreo and 7.0 Nougat

  • Open Settings and tap Lock screen & security.
  • Select Other Security Settings.
  • Select Pin windows.
  • In some phones running Android 7.0, you will need to go to Settings > Security > Screen pinning.
  • Select the toggle to enable screen pinning.
  • Select the Use screen lock type to unpin toggle switch to enable it.
  • Select Overview and hover over the application window you want to lock in front.
  • Select the thumbtack in the lower right corner and tap Start.
  • Select and hold the Back and Overview icons to unpin the window.
  • Enter your pattern, pin, password or scan your biometric security option to unlock the app.

    • Lock apps on Android with Samsung Secure Folder

  • Select Settings and tap Biometrics & Security.
  • Select Secure Folder.
  • Tap Agree on the home screen and log in to your Samsung account if prompted.
  • Select the lock type.
  • Select Pattern, Pin or Password (or a biometric option if available) and continue entering your selection and confirming it.
  • Select Secure Folder from the app drawer and tap Add apps.
  • Select the apps you want to include in Secure Folder and tap Add.
  • Select Block and Sign Out in the upper right corner.
  • A brief message appears indicating that the Secure Folder is now locked. Attempting to access Secure Folder prompts for the previously selected lock type.
  • Enter your pattern, pin, password or scan your biometric security option.
  • The app is unpinned.
