Chrome is one of the most used browsers due to its high speed and user-friendly interface. It has millions of users and updates are regularly released in the browser. However, many reports have come in recently that the browser opens previously opened tabs on startup. Normally, Chrome will open a new tab on startup, but in this case, it will open all the tabs that were loaded on the previous startup.

It is possible that the browser has been configured to open a specific set of pages or tabs on startup. In some cases, the browser can also be configured to start where you left off. Scroll further down to the “System” heading and turn off “Keep background apps running when Google Chrome is closed” button. It is possible that the “Quick Guides” feature in Chrome is interfering with important elements of the browser, causing old tabs to open on startup. So in this step we are going to disable “Fast Startup” feature completely.

  • To open the same set of web pages each time you launch Chrome, first open the web pages you want in separate tabs.
  • Then click on the Chrome menu button in the upper-right corner of the window and select Settings.
  • In the On startup section, select Open a specific page or set of pages. Then click Use current pages.
  • All currently open tabs except the Settings tab are automatically added to the Open a specific page or set of pages option.
  • You can manually add more pages to the list using the Add a new page link. Enter the URL you want to add in the Add a new page dialog and click Add.
  • The next time you open Chrome, your selected web pages will automatically open in separate tabs.
  • To remove a URL from the list, click the three vertical dots to the right of the URL and select Remove.

  • Then click on the Firefox menu in the upper right corner of the window and select Options.

  • You can also add more URLs manually by typing a vertical bar (|) after the last URL in the Home page box and then enter the new URL.
  • To remove a URL from the list of home pages, select the URL in the box with a vertical bar at one end and delete it.

  • In Safari on Mac, you cannot add more than one URL as your homepage. Therefore, you cannot use this setting to open multiple pages when Safari starts. But there is a workaround.
  • Open all the web pages you want to open when Safari starts in separate tabs.
  • Then go to Bookmarks > Add bookmarks to these X tabs. The “X” will be how many tabs you have open.
  • Select where you want to add the bookmark folder in the Add this bookmark folder to the drop-down list.
  • Then enter a name for the folder in the box below the drop-down list and click Add.
  • Now, you should select this bookmark folder as the bookmark set that opens every time Safari is launched.
  • Go to the Safari menu > Preferences. Then select the Choose Tabs folder from the New windows open with drop-down list.
  • Select the bookmark folder you created. Then click Choose.
