There are times when you want to send a text message, but the time is not right. Maybe it’s too early, a little late at night, or it makes more sense to send something in a few days. However, if you wait to send a text message, you run the risk of forgetting about it altogether. So how do you write a text and send it later? You can schedule a text message or use a workaround. The method available to you depends on your mobile device. Here are some ways to get the job done (or get close to it). For example, some Android users have created a scheduling function in their default SMS app. However, iPhone users don’t have this option.

Schedule text messages on Android

Open up the Messaging app on your phone. Use Start Chat button to create a new conversation or open an existing conversation to type your message.

Now press and hold the submit button button until a ‘Schedule Shipment’ window appears. Choose one of the available times to send a message.

Alternatively, you can use the date and time picker to set a scheduled time for the message.

Switch to the Automation tab and tap Create Personal Automation button. Then select the ‘Time of day’ option on the screen below and choose a preferred time to send the message.

On the next screen, tap Add Action button and tap the Apps option in the menu that appears.

Scroll down to find and tap the Messaging app. Here, tap the Send message option.

Once this is done, the iPhone will send the message at the scheduled time. However, a big caveat with this method is that it is automation. Thus, the message will be sent to the person on the selected date every month.

So be sure to delete the automation as soon as the message is sent. To delete automation, swipe from right to left on the automation.
