How to Send a Scheduled Text in iPhone – Guide

The instant gratification of a text message can be great, but sometimes you might want to wait until the appropriate time to send a message. Scheduling your text messages in advance can help. If you have an iPhone, you cannot schedule text messages directly in iMessages. Therefore, you will need a third-party app to make this happen. Depending on which iPhone you have, you may also be able to set up Recurring messages using the built-in Shortcuts app. Here’s what you need to know about scheduling text messages on an iPhone.

How to Schedule a text message on an iPhone

Open the Shortcuts app on your phone.

Choose the Automation tab at the bottom of the page.

If you’ve never created an automation before, you can tap Create personal automations. If you have already created an automation, you will not see this option. Instead, tap the + in the upper-right corner and tap Create Personal Automation.

Select the Time of day option.

Set the time you want to send the message.

Tap Month and scroll down to set the date you want the message to be sent. When finished, tap Next.

On the next screen, tap Add Action.

In the Actions menu, mark a contact in the Send Message section and tap Next.

In the Message field, type the message you want to send and tap Next.

Review the New Automation to make sure it contains the correct details. One thing we should pay special attention to here is the Ask before run option. It is enabled by default. You can tap the toggle button next to Ask Before Run to turn off if you want the automation to run automatically without any intervention from you.

When satisfied, tap Done and the automation will be set up to run according to the settings you chose when completing the steps above.
