How to Show Desktop on MacBook – Guide
People chuck files on their Mac desktops the way young people chuck junk food and candy wrappers across the street, crowding the area until there’s nothing left to locate. I won’t try to break your bad habit. His parents were in charge of it, and they had already failed. But, when you’re ready, I can teach you some quick ways to get to your embarrassing desktop.
It is quite simple to quickly display the desktop on a Windows machine. To display the desktop, many Windows users use the shortcut keys ‘Win + D’. Otherwise, just move the pointer to the lower right corner of the screen to hide all open apps and reveal the desktop. On the other hand, there is no such option for revealing the desktop on a Mac. Here are three options for showing your desktop on a Mac.
create hot corners
Hot corners is one of the simplest ways to show the desktop on your Mac. This will come in handy especially if you like the bottom right corner button on Windows to show the desktop. Follow the instructions below to define hot corners:
Fn + F11 or simply F11
Usually the F11 key on the Mac keyboard does the trick to hide all windows and show the desktop. But F11 key on most MacBook Pro keyboard will reduce volume function. In that case, press ‘Fn + F11’ keys to show or hide your MacBook desktop. This is similar to ‘Win + D’ hotkeys on Windows computer. You can always press the keys again to show all hidden windows again or go back to the previous window you were working on.
Use trackpad gesture
Apple has all sorts of gestures to play with on the trackpad. If you’re a finger expert, use your thumb and three other fingers in the diagonally opposite direction. This will slide out all open windows and show the desktop. You can also use one finger of your left hand and three fingers of your right hand to do the gesture.
To enable this gesture, click on “Apple menu” and go to the “System Preferences…” section. Click on the “Trackpad” and go to the “More Gestures” tab. Enable the last option “Show desktop” to view the desktop by spreading your thumb and three fingers.
