How to start a Space on Twitter on iOS and Android – Guide
Twitter has launched audio chat rooms known as Twitter Spaces for its Android and iOS users within the app. Twitter Spaces allows you to participate, listen and speak. These spaces can be accessed by anyone as a listener, including people who do not follow you. you can invite up to 10 listeners from your Space by sharing a link with them, tweeting a link, or sharing a link elsewhere.
When starting a Space, a host can select who will speak to everyone, people you follow, or just people you invite to speak, which allows them to send message invitations. Once the Space is created and started, the host can allow and cancel speech permissions for Space participants. Listeners can make an appeal to speak from the host by tapping the ‘request’ icon below the microphone.
How to start a Twitter Space on iPhone
When it comes to creating spaces on Twitter, the process is as simple as sketching a new tweet in the social app. There are two ways to approach this – one using the (classic) Compose button and the other involves the use of the Fleet section.
Method #1: Using Compose button
The easiest way to start a Twitter Space is using Compose button. To do this, open the Twitter app on an iPhone and tap and hold Tweet Compose button in the lower right corner. This button is indicated by a feather icon and will be visible on the app’s main screen, search, and anyone’s profile page.
Tap and hold this Tweet Compose button will show a floating menu on the screen.
In this menu, select Spaces button this is indicated by several circles forming a diamond shape.
A new screen will appear on your screen titled ‘Your Space’. Here, you can enter the name of the Space you want to host on Twitter.
After entering the name of your choice, tap ‘Start your space’ button.
Twitter will now connect you to a new Space and when it’s done you should see your thumbnail appear on screen.
Once Space is created, you can add speakers, adjust settings, share Space, and make other changes to Space.
Method #2: Using the Fleets Section
iOS users have an additional way to create spaces on Twitter and this is done using the Fleets section at the top of the Twitter app. To do this, open the Twitter app on your iPhone and tap the ‘Add’ button button which is indicated by your profile picture within the Fleets section at the top of the home screen.
When the New Fleets screen appears, slide to the far right slide until you reach the Spaces tab below. On this screen, type a name for your Space or leave it empty if you prefer. To create a Space, tap ‘Start Your Space’ button.
This should connect you to a new Space, and when you’re done, you’ll see your thumbnail appear on the screen.
When your Twitter Spaces is created, you will be able to see other people who enter the Space as thumbnails and you will also have the option to add speakers, adjust the settings, share the Space and make other changes to the Space.
How to start a Twitter Space on Android
Unlike iOS, there is currently only one way to launch a Twitter Space in the Twitter app for Android. This is done using the same Tweet Compose button which works a little differently than on iOS.
To create a Twitter Space on Android, open the Twitter app on Android and tap Tweet Compose button in the lower right corner. This button is indicated by a feather icon and will be visible on the app’s main screen, search, and anyone’s profile page.
This should bring up a floating menu on the screen. In this menu, select Spaces button this is indicated by several circles forming a diamond shape.
