How to Sync Gmail Account with MS Outlook Account – Guide

In that case, there is a very convenient way to sync your Gmail account with Outlook. By migrating from Outlook and Microsoft products to G Suite, you can also easily transfer all your past messages and information.

Users who need to use a Microsoft Exchange email inbox and a Google Gmail mailbox don’t have to go through the trouble of checking email in two places. Microsoft Outlook can be easily configured so that it synchronizes with multiple email inboxes from multiple services at the same time.

Enable Internet Message Access Protocol in Gmail

  • Log into your Gmail account by entering your username and password at the Gmail login screen (see Resources) and clicking the “Sign In” button button.
  • Click on the gear icon and select the “Settings” function by clicking on it.
  • Click on the “Forwarding and POP / IMAP” option in the Gmail menu bar.
  • Click on the option next to the words “Enable IMAP” to enable IMAP support in Gmail. If you see a line above that option that says “Status: IMAP is enabled,” you don’t need to click the option. When finished at this screen, click on the “Save changes” button button. If you haven’t made any changes, click “Cancel”.

    • Configuring Outlook to Sync with Gmail

  • Open Outlook and click “File.”
  • Click on “Add Account” button.
  • Enter your name as you would like it to appear in your emails in the “Your name” field, your Gmail address in the “Email address” field and your password twice – once in the “Password” field and again in “Retype Password field”.
  • Click the option “Manually configure server settings or additional server types” and then click “Next>” button.
  • Click the option next to “Email from the Internet” and click “Next>” button.
  • Fill in the “Add New Account” screen with your name in the “Your name” field and your email address in the “Email address” field.
  • Change the “Account Type” drop-down menu to “IMAP” and enter “imap.gmail.com” in the “Incoming mail server” field and “smtp.gmail.com” in the “Outgoing mail server (SMTP) field ”.
  • Enter your username, which is your full email address, into the “Username” field and your Gmail password into the “Password” field.
  • Click on “More Settings” button.
  • Click on the “Advanced” tab.
  • Change the “Incoming server port number (IMAP) to 993 and set the drop-down menu labeled“ Use the following encrypted connection type: ”to“ SSL ”.
  • Change the “Outgoing Server Port Number (SMTP) to 587 and set the drop-down menu labeled“ Use the following encrypted connection type: ”to“ TLS ”.
  • Click on the “Output Server” tab.
  • Click the checkbox next to “My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication” and select the option to the left of “Use the same settings as my incoming email server”.
  • Click “OK | Next | Finish | OK “to finish the configuration up your account.
