How to Turn on Screen Sharing for Participants as Zoom meeting Host – Guide
In the Zoom meeting, screen sharing by participants is turned off by default. This setting helps prevent unwanted attendees from interrupting meetings by sharing inappropriate or offensive material – a practice known as “Zoombombing” that has affected Pitt and other institutions.
You can turn on screen sharing for participants for each meeting, or you can change your settings to turn on participant screen sharing by default for all meetings.
HOW TO ENABLE SCREEN SHARING FOR ZOOM PARTICIPANTS ON DESKTOP
You can allow participants to share their screens for the current meeting using one of the two methods below.
Method 1
When you join a Zoom meeting, click the Security tab on the bottom bar of the Zoom window. Under ‘Allow participants’, click on the Share screen to enable it. Once enabled, participants will be able to share the screen.
Method 2
After joining a meeting, click the small arrow next to the Share screen option. Select Advanced sharing options.

Step 1: Join the Zoom meeting using the host’s account.

Step 3: Activate the toggle button next to Share screen in the Allow Participants section.
Ask meeting attendees to check in now. They must be able to share their screen using the Share button in your zoom apps.
HOW TO ENABLE PARTICIPANTS SCREEN SHARING FOR ALL MEETINGS
The above methods allow you to enable screen sharing for the current meeting only. If you have multiple meetings as host where participants need to share their screens, you can enable a default setting for the same feature in your account. This way, all meetings you conduct as the host will have screen sharing enabled for all attendees.
To do this, you need to open your Zoom account settings on the Zoom website. Here are the steps:
Step 1: Open the Zoom website and log in with your Zoom account.
Step 2: Click Settings on the left sidebar.
Step 3: From the Meeting tab, click In Meeting (Basic).
Step 4: Scroll down and you will find the screen sharing settings. First, enable the toggle button next to Screen sharing. Then choose All Participants under Who Can Share.
You can even enable or disable annotation for screen sharing on this screen. Also, if you wish, you can customize what attendees can share by enabling the toggle button next to Disable desktop / screen sharing for users.
