How to Use iOS App Library to Make Folders and Categories – Guide
If you’re an organization junkie and an iPhone user, iOS 14 has brought a new tool: the App Library, which organizes your apps into labeled groups to make them easier to find. In fact, all your current apps can be found there, and any apps you download in the future will also be placed there. (You can decide if you want the apps to be visible on your home screen; let’s learn how to do this later in this article.)
It automatically organizes your apps into folders labeled with a variety of categories. For example, right after upgrading to the new operating system, my Newly Added included Utilities, Productivity & Finance, Social Affairs, Creativity, Information & Reading, Gaming, Entertainment, Health & Fitness, and Travel. Each folder is divided into four quadrants; Each quadrant shows an icon for an app. If a folder contains more than four apps, the remaining icons are collapsed and grouped into a single quadrant.
What is the App Library?
While home screen widgets provide an updated user interface with customizable widgets of different sizes, the app library has some interesting options to organize and make it easier to access apps with automatically generated categories/folders, the option to hide app pages, a new way to manage downloads, an alphabetical list of apps and much more. The app library is at the bottom of your last iPhone apps page.

After editing the app’s pages, you’ll see a notice that new downloads will appear in the Recently Added section of the app’s library. Currently, new app downloads are also displayed in your home app screen/page by default, but you can change this in the Settings app. If you want new downloads to appear just up in the iPhone application library and not in the home screen or any page in the app, go to Settings> Home screen and tap “Application library only”.
There is also the option to get a “Show in app library” notification badge if you want reminders and a shortcut.
