While Dropbox offers so many conveniences, it doesn’t give users a straightforward way to run multiple Dropbox accounts on one computer at the same time. As per the statement on Dropbox’s official website, only Dropbox Business customers can have personal and business accounts on any computer, mobile device and dropbox.com. And only Dropbox Business users can sync multiple Dropbox accounts on a single device. If you want to run multiple personal Dropbox accounts on one computer at the same time, there are four workarounds for you.

The traditional method of storing data on disk or tape is no longer used. All thanks to the cloud storage service that makes all other traditional data storage services obsolete. Nowadays we all use cloud storage technology as part of data backup solutions. File backup is essential to restore original data in case of data loss and backup up data to cloud server is an excellent backup strategy because we don’t have to worry about hard drive failure or limited storage space. The Slightly More Annoying Way: Shared Folders

  • One of the things that makes Dropbox so useful is its ability to share folders and files between users. If there’s something on a secondary account that you need access to all the time, just share the relevant folder with your primary account. Here’s how: Log into the Dropbox website on your secondary account and click on “New Shared Folder”. Use “I would like to create and share a new folder” or “I would like to share an existing folder for their respective functions. Select the folder with the content you want to share and click “Next.
  • Enter the email address you used for the primary login for your Dropbox account, make sure “Can edit” is enabled and click “Share.” An email will be sent to your main account address, and you simply need to click “go to folder” to activate the connection.
  • The downside to this approach is that Dropbox doesn’t allow sharing from the root folder – so you’ll have to put everything in a specific folder to share it – and shared folders take up space on both accounts. So this won’t help you get extra space, but it will help you avoid the hassle of having a personal account and a work account, for example.

    • The Hard Way for Windows: Multiple PC Logins

  • Create a second Windows user (if you don’t already have one). This is a secondary Windows account with its own password. If you are creating this login just for this Dropbox hack, I recommend doing one without a Microsoft email account connection.
  • Log into your secondary Windows account without logging out of your primary Windows user account. To do this quickly, just press the Windows button button+ L and login with the secondary account.
  • On the secondary account, download and install the Dropbox for Windows program. prepare up normally and log in with your secondary Dropbox login information (not the same account you are using under your primary Windows username).
  • Lock the secondary Windows account and go back to your primary Windows account. Now, open the Windows Explorer program and navigate to the Users folder; by default it is C:Users. Double-click the new Windows user folder you just created and click “Continue” to access your files with your administrator privileges.
  • Navigate to the Dropbox folder in the secondary account’s User folder. By default it is in C:Users[username] (the folder you just opened — it will only change if you move the user folder during the Dropbox program installation).
  • You can now access files from your secondary Dropbox account in Windows Explorer at any time. As long as you keep your secondary Windows account connected with the Dropbox program running, it will sync files with the Dropbox web server automatically. If you need to access it quickly, just right-click the Dropbox folder and select Send to > Desktop (Create Shortcut). You may want to name the secondary shortcut after your secondary account to avoid confusion.
