How to Use the Multitasking Feature on your iPad – Guide
Your iPad might not be as powerful as a full-fledged computer, but that’s not an issue when it comes to multitasking. With iPadOS, you can display and work with two or three apps on the screen at the same time, and you can drag and drop text, images, links, and even files from one app to another. Your iPad offers two different multitasking modes: Slide Over and Split View. Slide Over lets you display two apps on the screen, with one app floating in a narrow area above the other.
Split View lets you display two apps in their own customizable windows on the screen. You can add a third app that sits in the floating area. Both Slide Over and Split View are compatible with iPad Pro, iPad 5th generation and newer, iPad Air 2 and newer, and iPad mini 4 and newer. Some older iPad models have limited functionality with Slide Over, but not Split View.
