Threads is an Instagram camera and informative app designed to help you stay in touch with your dear companions on Instagram. In this article, we’re going to dive into what the Instagram string app is and how to use it to talk to the list of your dear companions.

What is Instagram Threads?

Threads is described as a “camera-first messaging app”. Instagram said it’s coming up with ways to allow your users to share more visually, such as through stories or direct messages. Threads intends to expand on this; it is specifically designed to help you communicate what you are doing and how you feel through photos and videos with your close friends in a “private” space.

How does Threads work?

You can use Threads to share photos, videos, messages and stories with your “close friends” list on Instagram – and you have full control over who can contact you. There are three main parts to the app: Camera, Inbox and status screen.

Camera

Similar to Snapchat, the camera view is the default screen when you open the app. From here you can take photos and videos. There are no filters available.

But there are shortcuts to your close friends, so if you use Threads to send messages to just two or three people, you pin their profile picture at the bottom of the camera screen.

To send them a photo, tap the photo and swipe up to send. You can choose to save all photos and videos taken using Threads on your phonede camera roll or gallery.

Inbox basically consists of your Instagram direct messages, but on Threads you’ll only see conversations from your closest friends. Group chats are also available if everyone involved in the chat is a close friend of yours.

status screen

Remember AOL’s away message? This is the status screen. To create a status, choose an emoji and enter a status (or choose a generic status that Instagram created). Then specify how long to keep the status. You can choose from one to four hours.

There is also an “Auto Status” which will update your status throughout the day. So, for example, Auto Status can use your location to show your friends that you are “in a cafe” or, if you are riding a bike, that you are “on the go”. Yes, that means Instagram is passively requesting your location, moves, network and even battery level, but promises not to store your exact location. Also, at all times, your status will only be seen by your close friends in Topics.

How to add people as close friends

Threads works with your close Instagram friends list. If you don’t have a list, you can define one. up on Threads when downloading the app:

Open topics.

In camera, touch Home on the top.

Tap the hamburger menu in the top left corner.

Tap Close friends.

Tap next to your friend’s name to add or remove them from your list of close friends.

Tap Done.

To create a list of close friends on Instagram, follow these steps:

Open Instagram.

Tap the Profile icon in the lower right corner.

Tap the hamburger menu in the upper right corner.

Tap Close friends.

Tap Add next to the people you want to add to your close friends list.

You can also tap Search to search for a friend.

Tap Done when you’re done adding people to your list.
