How to delete spam SMS messages and add new blocked numbers on Android – Guide
If you’re looking to clean up old spam and blocked Android SMS messages, Jack Wallen is here to show you how. Android does a great job of handling incoming spam SMS messages. But there are two things you might find you need to do manually. The first is the deletion of spam SMS messages. Given the constant deluge of spam that floods our many inboxes, these messages can add up. You certainly don’t want to allow your device to fill up up with blocked spam messages.
The second thing you may need to do is add blocked numbers manually. Android does a good job of capturing and blocking spam numbers, but it’s not 100% always. So how do you delete these messages and add new blocked numbers? I will show you how.
what will you need
The first thing you’ll need is an Android device. It should at least be running Android 10, but Android 11 would be better. You will also need to collect some spam SMS messages. If you haven’t received the first spam message yet, count yourself lucky and catalog this information for the inevitable day when spam starts to arrive.
How to delete SMS spam
The first thing we’ll do is delete some of the spam SMS messages you’ve collected. It’s a very simple process, but it can be tedious (since there isn’t a select-all option yet – Google, are you listening?).
To delete your spam messages, open the Messaging app. In the main window, tap the menu button and tap Spam and blocked.
In the Spam and Blocked window, you will have to manually tap on each message you want to delete.
O trick to select the messages you have to long press one of the messages first to select it. After selecting the first message, you can scroll through the list and tap each one once to select. After selecting all messages to be deleted, tap the trash in the upper right corner to delete them.
After tapping the trash you will be asked to confirm the deletion. Tap Delete and the messages will disappear from the Spam and Blocked Messages folder.
How to manually add one phone Spam and Blocked number
Now, let’s manually add a new phone Spam and Blocked list number. On the same screen, tap the menu button and tap Blocked contacts. In the resulting window, tap Add a number.
Enter the number to be added and tap Block
And that’s it, you’ve just added a new number to Android Messaging’s blocked numbers list. You will never have to worry about receiving SMS messages from that number again.
