Working together on the new Galaxy Watch 4 series, Samsung and Google have developed into closer partners than ever. Prior to now, Samsung operated independently and sold Galaxy Watches powered by its own TizenOS. With its Wear OS, Google has been attempting to assist manufacturers in competing with the Apple Watch. The Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Classic is made up of a primary body and interchangeable bands, though we found it more difficult to switch out the bands on this watch than on others because of its tiny levers. As a result, your experience may differ.
The strap that comes with the watch is constructed of fluoroelastomer, a silicone-like substance that may be a little more comfortable and less irritating for those with sensitive skin than the rubber used in some smartwatch bands. The straps in the box, the body, and the bezel of the watch will all be coloured according to the finish you choose for the watch, which is either silver or black.
[content-egg-block template=offers_logo hide=price]It may seem obvious, but the watch’s display is 42mm wide if you choose the 42mm model and 46mm wide if you choose the 46mm model. The size refers to the display, not the watch’s entire body. With its vivid colours and high maximum brightness, the display is among the best we’ve seen on a smartwatch, making it simple to view in strong sunlight and when we raised our wrist to glance at it while running.
Samsung confidently boasted “up to 40 hours of battery life” when it unveiled the Galaxy Watch 4 and 4 Classic, seemingly solving the age-old issue of Wear OS devices requiring daily charging. The good news is that every Mobvoi and Fossil smartwatch I’ve tested over the past year has been outlasted by the Watch 4 and 4 Classic, at least in the larger versions. The bad news is that it isn’t much—certainly not enough to qualify the Watch 4 as a two-day device.
The watch lasted a day and a half when used as intended, with the always-on display turned off but the raise- and touch-to-wake features active, tracking workouts, and frequently checking alerts. Even though turning on the always-on display had a minimal impact on battery life, I was still concerned about the next stage, sleep tracking.
By waving your forearm up and down, you can accept calls. By turning your wrist twice, you can reject calls, notifications, and alarms. You can use Bixby to access apps, create messages, and more by speaking. Just press and hold the Home key to communicate with Bixby. Additionally, if you choose the Voice Wake-Up option, you can call the virtual assistant by saying, “Hi, Bixby.”
