A smart lock can make your life much easier, whether you rent out your home to guests, want to keep track of when your dog walker comes and goes, or are just tired of fumbling with keys. Yale’s Assure Lock 2 is smarter and more stylish than its predecessor, and all models work with Apple HomeKit.
It comes in a version that only has Bluetooth, while the top-of-the-line model has a touch screen and Wi-Fi. No matter which one you choose, the Assure Lock 2 lets you lock and unlock the door in different ways, make and manage access codes for guests, and see a timeline of door and lock activity.
To control the lock from further than Bluetooth’s limited range (about 30 feet), you need a Wi-Fi Smart Module. This module fits into the back of the lock and lets you control it from anywhere using the Yale Access app. The Wi-Fi Smart Module is easier to set up now that it doesn’t need a Wi-Fi Connect Bridge. It also doesn’t take up a wall outlet. Yale sells the Assure Lock 2 with the Wi-Fi Smart Module already built in, or you can buy the module separately and add it to the lock yourself.
