Our favourite convertible Chromebook has been updated yet again. And it’s even better. The new Asus Chromebook Flip C433 (C433TA-AS384T model in this review) is a big improvement over its predecessor, the Chromebook Flip C302CA, with a larger display, longer battery life and stronger performance. What’s more, you get a sleek aluminium chassis that is both robust and bright, while still having a 14-inch panel in a 13-inch body. It also has a long battery life, so you can use it for a whole day at work or school, or even longer.
Put the Flip C433 on your desk and you are immediately impressed. The colours are nice, the boxy edges are nice and the overall aesthetic is quite handsome. However, as soon as you pick up this Chromebook, you immediately realise how heavy this device is – it’s listed at 3.31lb, but you realise how heavy it is. At 0.6 in thick, it is not the slimmest of Chromebooks.
[content-egg-block template=offers_logo hide=price]However, it wins style points for its square looks, which are reminiscent of the ASUS Flip C302. The keyboard is 100% accurate, as seen on the ASUS C425 and Flip C434. This keyboard performs as well as its predecessors, with excellent mobility, satisfying clicks and backlighting. There is nothing wrong with the keyboard, apart from the fact that it is housed in the aforementioned flimsy bottom chassis. I had no problems writing articles, replying to emails and getting work done on this setup.
The Chromebook Flip C433 offers a great alternative as a 2-in-1 Chromebook at a relatively wallet-friendly price, while maintaining a premium look and premium features. The ‘nano edge’ screen looks great and the 14-inch display means it fits into a relatively small laptop chassis. It’s convertible, so it can be used as both a laptop and a tablet. This 2-in-1 is also powerful enough to run all the Chrome OS applications you might want.
Another point is that, as already mentioned, this is a cheaper version of the C434 – it’s not as upmarket as the C434, but it’s essentially the same machine, except that the display is less colourful (it doesn’t cover 100% of the C434’s sRGB colour gamut). However, the layman’s eye may not be able to tell much difference, and the screen has adequate performance. ……
