The only notable design change in the Surface Pro 7+ is a small rectangular door hidden under the kickstand. Here, the included M.2 SSD can be easily removed and replaced using only a SIM card eject tool. Simply insert the tip of the needle into the small hole and the small door will pop out. The SSD can then be replaced when storage is running low, or the IT department can replace it with another SSD or repair it if necessary.
The Surface Pro 7+ is otherwise no different from the Surface Pro 7, for better or worse. The detachable tablet has a stylish pearl silver magnesium alloy chassis with clean lines and an attractive chrome Microsoft logo on the back. It has a boxy form with right-angled corners and a slim gap between the body and rear panel for ventilation. The volume and power buttons are located on the top, while a magnetic 6-pin connector is located on the bottom for attaching keyboard accessories (sold separately).
The Surface Pro 7+ may be designed for business and corporate customers, but the hardware improvements make it a great choice for illustrators and art students. This Windows 10 tablet hybrid offers exactly the best of both worlds, but if you need serious power for 3D or video work, you’ll need to look elsewhere. These low numbers aren’t the end of the world, but they certainly don’t shine much of a spotlight on the iPad Pro series of tablets, considering each brand’s respective stylus, etc. Both generations of the Apple Pencil… Yes, it resembles a pencil, whereas the Surface Slim Pen 2 has a slightly unnatural shape and weight, and is nowhere near the same standard of comfort.
Surface Pro devices are expensive, but it is worth remembering that they are not ideal for use as dedicated creative workstations and are better used as secondary devices. The slim form factor makes it a great piece of kit for frequent travellers and those who like to work on the go, but its performance in tasks such as video editing cannot be compared to other laptops and desktops with discrete graphics cards It doesn’t.
That said, the Surface Pro 7+ already has an edge over the iPad Pro, with impressive performance in most desktop applications we tried, and access to full versions of popular programmes. in Adobe Photoshop there was no noticeable lag, but Blender and Premiere Pro were a little sluggish; if you’re focusing on more demanding tasks such as 3D sculpting, rendering or high-resolution video editing, you might want something with a little more power.
The Surface Pro 7+ is a difficult product to judge. This is because it is not specifically aimed at consumers. But that doesn’t mean you can’t get one, and there are some upgrades that are more useful than the 2019 Pro 7.
