How to Add Google Account Without Syncing in Android – Guide
If you have more than one Google account, you may be wondering if you can use them simultaneously on your Android phone. Yes you can, and I’ll show you how to put them up, so you can manage multiple Google accounts in one profile. All instructions below will work on Android stock. For screenshots we use a OnePlus phone running OxygenOS 9.0.6. We verified that all steps are identical on Android 11.
Disable Google Account Sync
The first thing you can do to avoid the above mentioned mishaps is to disable Google Account Sync. And to do this follow the steps below:
Disable apps
Google integration can sometimes be an issue when you don’t want to sync your data across all apps. Apps like Gmail still have access to all the data you’ve logged in with. Also, if you stop the Gmail sync option, it will just stop notifying you that that’s it, and nothing else. But there is a workaround if you don’t want to sync your data with Gmail. You simply need to go to Settings >> Application Manager >> Gmail. Then tap Gmail and simply disable the app.
Create multiple user profiles
If you want to use Google accounts on a single device, but want to keep your data separate, you can simply create two user profiles on your Android device. All Android smartphones offer this feature to create a separate user profile that will give you the freedom to use a smartphone without having to link all of your data to each of the profiles. Furthermore, users will not be able to access their personal data. While this is not a permanent solution to the problem, it can be useful if you have a lot of personal data on your device and are sharing your device with a third party.
Use Google Play Home Sharing
We often want to share an app or purchased data with our family or friends. And if you want to share data too, you don’t need to sign in with your account on your friend or family member’s device. You can use Google Play Home Sharing instead. This allows you to share all your acquired data with up for 5 family members. Furthermore, they can use the data acquired using their own account, thus preventing their data from being synced.
