How To Change Country and Location on Line – Guide

Unlike other apps like WhatsApp, the Line app doesn’t allow you to change country or location without any problem. To change or update your phone number, you need to enter a phone current country number. Fortunately, there is a workaround for this. Therefore, in this article, we will disclose how to change your country in the Line app without missing any conversations.

Line is a multi-purpose informational app located in Tokyo. Nothing like many other informational apps like WhatsApp, Line offers many features this can be helpful. For example, this app houses news channels, official accounts and small online media-like elements called Timeline.

Backup chats and reinstall app

  • The first thing you need to do is create a backup of your online chat history. This will save you from having to start all over again after successfully changing the location. Depending on the device you are using, you can go back up your chat history in iCloud or Google Drive. After changing your phone number successfully, you can restore chat history and choose up where you left off.
  • Open the Line Chat app and click on the “Chats” icon at the bottom of the screen. Choose the chats you want to save.
  • Tap chat, then tap the three horizontal lines in the upper-right corner. Select “Other settings.
  • Tap “Export chat history” and follow the onscreen instructions to save the chat history on your device.
  • With all your most important chats saved, we can now proceed with transferring your account. By doing this, you will have the option to change your country or region. Start by uninstalling and reinstalling the Line app.

    • Login

    Once the app is reinstalled on your device, please follow these simple steps to sign in again and transfer your account;

  • Open the app and tap “Login”.
  • Select the country you are in and enter the new one phone number you are using. Tap the arrow to continue.
  • Go through the verification process and enter the code you received into the new number and tap “Yes, transfer my account.

    • Restoring chat backups

    Continue through the setup process to restore chats to your device;

  • Choose if you want to transfer with previous phone number or email address.
  • Enter previous email address from phone number and complete the setup process as you normally would.
  • Enter your password, tap the arrow and select “OK.
  • In the next steps, you can choose whether you want to add friends from your contact lists and then choose whether you want to restore your chat history.
  • Confirm the pop-up “Concerning the use of your information” when it appears and that’s it. Your account will now be associated with the new phone number and the new selected location.
