How To Check the Permissions Used By Android 12 Apps – Guide
You can only find Android 12 on a few devices. The update was already announced at the Pixel event in October and comes with a handful of features which are popular, such as face-based auto-rotate to spontaneously regular screen when you rotate it and “silky home”To make your phone easier to use with one hand. The latest OS update is now available for Pixel phones, which includes the next Pixel 6, and will be released for other Android devices soon.
But lots of privacy features are new too. They are designed to give you more control over the amount of personal information from the apps on your phone can use. Android users can now openly use a privacy panel that allows them to manage their permissions and location. Android’s October update also allows you to disable the microphone and camera in all apps.
Here’s How to check exactly which apps can access certain information about you, and how to override any permissions you are not comfortable with. And let’s show you how to access your new privacy panel to better control what your apps can see about you.
How to see permissions used by apps on Android 12
The first thing to do is go to your phone settings. you will need to slide up at the home screen to access the application drawer. There, find the “Settings” app and tap on it.
In the Settings menu, locate the “Privacy” submenu. This submenu includes permissions, account activity, personal data, etc.
One of the options in the “Privacy” submenu is the “Authorization Manager”, which basically allows you to control the application’s access to your data.
There you will see several permissions listed. These permissions include body sensors, calendar, call logs, camera, contacts, files and media, location, etc. In this menu you will see how many apps are allowed to control which permissions. So, for example, in my case, location access is allowed for 11 out of 39 apps. To be clear, I don’t have 39 apps on my phone, but 39 of them can access the location permission. so because of that tutorial, let’s tap on the “Location” permission.
As you can see there are some apps that are allowed to access my phone location at any time, while others are only allowed to access during use. You have complete control over this, but be careful. Decide which apps should always have access and which should not. Also, don’t allow this access to apps you don’t trust, etc.
