How to Fix ‘Hibernate Goes to Lock Screen’ Issue on Windows 10 PC – Guide
In Windows 10, “Hibernate” is a power mode that works similarly to sleep mode, but saves the state of your device to your hard drive rather than keeping applications running in memory. Using hibernation, you can completely shut down your computer and then restart it right where you left off.
The problem with Hibernate is that it doesn’t always work as expected. For example, several users (myself included) have reported that when using the Hibernate option in Windows 10, the screen goes off, the fans keep running, and the LED lights stay on for a long time until the device finally turns off. However, when you return, your computer starts normally without any of the applications you left running.
Disable or change lock screen timeout settings
You need to disable the lock screen. You can use our Ultimate Windows Weaker to do this with one click! You will find the Disable lock screen setting under Personalization > Modern UI > Lock screen.
If you don’t want to disable it, check the sleep timeout settings, screen timeout settings, screen saver, and so on. These are the basic settings you should check.
Disable dynamic blocking
In addition to using PIN or password, you can also use Dynamic Lock. It’s useful for anyone who always forgets to lock the device. Dynamic blocking uses Bluetooth devices. Whenever the Bluetooth device is out of range, the computer is locked. So make sure your device is nearby or uncheck the option that says, “Allow Windows to lock your device when you’re away automatically”.
Disable blank screen saver
If you use a screensaver, make sure it is not blank. The problem is, you’ll never know a screensaver is running.
Press Apply and exit.
Change the unattended system suspend timeout
Available under Power Settings, the system unattended sleep timeout setting is the timeout of inactivity before the system returns to a low power sleep state. The default time is set to 2 minutes for both, ie when running on batteries and connected. Change this to a higher value so that the PC does not go into Sleep mode too quickly.
If the setting doesn’t appear in the power settings, you can add it manually using PowerShell and the Registry
PowerShell Method
Use Win + X and select PowerShell (admin)
Type the following and press Enter: Exit and check.
registration method
Open Registry Editor and navigate to:
Change the value of the “Attributes” key from 1 to 2. This will enable the system unattended hibernation timeout in Power Options. You can now change this setting. We hope that these tips were helpful enough for you to solve your Windows 10 PC’s auto-lock problem.
