How to Rearrange Multiple displays on Windows 10 PC – Guide

Most notebooks have an external monitor port. You can connect a monitor (or other display device) to it. This will normally display the contents of your notebook’s monitor on the external monitor. You then have the option to use the notebook monitor only, use the external monitor only, or display on both. If you have a desktop computer, you can borrow your monitor for testing, as long as it has the same type of monitor port as your laptop. There are three types, a VGA port, a larger DVI port, and the HDMI port (as seen on televisions).

All you need to do is run the cable coming out of the monitor (not the power cable or a USB cable if it’s plugged in) through the back of the computer. Unscrew the cable and plug it into your notebook’s external monitor port. Many new desktops have two connectors on the graphics card, VGA, DVI or HDMI. You can connect monitors to any of them. If you only have a single monitor port, you can replace your existing graphics card with a dual-port graphics card, or in some cases, install a second graphics card.

Although you can connect a monitor to any available video port on the graphics card, when configuring up a dual monitor or triple monitor setup, it’s easy to connect them in the wrong order. While they still work, you may experience problems using your mouse and running apps until you rearrange them properly. To rearrange monitors in Windows 10, follow these steps:

  • Open settings.
  • Click System.
  • Click View.
  • In the “Select and Rearrange Screens” section, drag and drop each screen to rearrange them according to the physical layout on the desktop.
  • Click on Apply button button.
  • Final note
