Acer’s first two rugged laptops were “semi-rugged” and “rugged.” Both were made for the business market and ran Windows 10 Pro. A few months ago, the company added the Enduro Urban N3, a semi-rugged model for customers. It’s lighter than Acer’s similar Enduro N3, but with an IP53 certification.
It’s just as safe from dust and water. Acer says it’s a little less durable than the Enduro N3, but it has MIL-STD 810H certification, which means it can survive a four-foot drop. Its battery life and performance are just fine, but if you care most about a rugged design and saving money, the Urban N3 is a good choice.

Acer Enduro Urban N3 review: Design
![Acer Enduro Urban N3 review](https://www.compsmag.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/Capture-22.jpg)
The Acer ENDURO Urban N3 is a bit different from other notebooks in terms of how it looks. First of all, the laptop’s lid is Hunter Green, which makes it look almost military. The rest is a dark to medium grey. When the laptop is closed, it is 0.86 inches thick. This gives this rugged laptop a rather thin look. It weighs just over 4 pounds, which is a bit more than other laptops of the same size.
The lid’s plastic shell has horizontal rows of raised lines, and the corners are stronger. The base of the laptop also has black reinforced corners, but they are made of rubber instead of plastic like the lid’s. The ENDURO logo is in the middle of the top of the lid. It is on a small, recessed plate with an orange border to make it stand out. You can buy this laptop from its official website
Acer Enduro Urban N3 review: Performance
![Acer Enduro Urban N3 review](https://www.compsmag.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/Capture-23.jpg)
We liked how well the CPU and graphics worked and how fast Wi-Fi was. The storage read and write speeds were also very good. In our tests, the read speed of storage was 3556MBps and the write speed was 2989MBps. This makes it a pretty quick performer all around. The i7-powered model is powerful enough to run productivity apps while doing other things at the same time, and it will even let you play some decent games. In Forza Horizon 5, the Core i7 and Iris Xe graphics got 26fps.
Acer Enduro Urban N3 review: Battery Life
The Acer ENDURO Urban N3 rugged notebook has a battery life of up to 13 hours, according to Acer. When the screen brightness was set to 50% and the keyboard backlight was turned off, the laptop could run for about 7 1/2 hours before I had to plug it in. If you turn it down to best power efficiency, you can go even longer. If you turn it up to best performance, you’ll get less, of course.
Acer Enduro Urban N3 review: Price and availability
Our review unit, which had a starting MSRP of US$799.99, cost $999.99. On the Acer website, there are eight different ways to set up the Acer ENDURO Urban N3 rugged notebook, and the price is pretty fair overall. Not only does it work well, but it also protects your phone from the weather and accidental drops.
Final Words
At $2,299, the Acer Enduro Urban N3 doesn’t have the big, tough premium that we’re used to seeing, which will appeal to people who need a tough laptop. But it does have problems, especially with the trackpad, which is so bad that you pretty much always have to use a separate mouse. Still, the target market will like the bright screen, durability, and portability. But it’s not something we’d suggest for people who don’t use it often.
