AGM is a business that specialises on mobile devices, specifically smartphones, that takes the components seriously without being overly involved with the operating system software. Their primary design focus is on the physical components that owners of rugged phones want or need, and in the past, we’ve evaluated their ‘Glory Pro’ model, which even includes a thermal camera .
However, goodies like that can be quite pricey, and this is where the AGM H5 comes into play. It is still based on a highly robust platform, but it only includes the functionality that the majority of users will take advantage of. The fact that mobile phones are frequently used as portable sound systems has not been lost on AGM; hence, the speaker is intended to be extremely loud. It claims to have an output of 109dB, which is about equivalent to the volume of sound produced by a full symphony or a jackhammer.

AGM H5 Pro: Design
The H5 Pro seems to use some parts from the Glory Pro model, and the layout is almost the same. When you take the H5 Pro out of its packaging, which is a brown box with a charger inside, the first thing you’ll notice is how big it is. It has to be this big so that it can hold the 6.517-inch IPS TFT screen and all the other technology that AGM put in it.
A button that can be changed by the user is on the left, and the power button and volume rocker are on the right. This is almost the standard button layout for tough phones. The popular fingerprint reader wasn’t put on the power button by AGM. Instead, it was put in the middle of the back. This is a much better place for people who don’t use their right hand. You can buy this smartphone from its official website.
AGM H5 Pro: Display
You can see things on a 6.517-inch HD+ monitor with a resolution of 1600 by 720 pixels. With a mid-range phone, there are bound to be some trade-offs, and on paper, it looks like AGM might have saved money on the screen. Even though it’s not very common, some mid-range phones have OLED screens these days, but you have to look at what the phone is made for. A lot of mid-range phones can’t protect against dust or water, but the H5 Pro has grades of both IP68 and IP69K.
AGM H5 Pro: Camera
The most important problems with the back cameras are the odd placement on the side, which we’ve already talked about, and how this can cause fingers to get in the way. The front camera has a 20MP Sony IMX376 Sensor, which is a good quality for something that will mostly be used for pictures and face-timing.
The only thing that these cameras don’t quite get right is that their highest video quality is only 1080p, while the Samsung S5KGM2SP is made for more than 4K, 240fps at 1080p, and taking RAW photos. The photo app on this phone doesn’t have any of these tools, which is a shame.
AGM H5 Pro: Performance
The H5 Pro works well, but there are a few things that could have been done better. We’ve already talked about how it doesn’t handle WideVine L1, and the Mali-G52 MC2 GPU isn’t the best in its class, so it’s not great for gaming. It can handle simple games like Candy Crush well, but it doesn’t have enough 3D rendering power for games that use VR or FPS models.
Battery and Charging
The H5 Pro has a bigger battery than AGM’s flagship models. The 7000mAh battery lets you play games for 10 hours straight, and it can stay on sleep for up to 423 hours. I don’t think anyone would play games on such a tough phone for 10 hours straight. Because the battery is so big, you don’t have to worry about finding a charger for it all the time. Instead, you can focus on things that really matter. But you should know that the charger’s highest output is only 18 watts.
Price and availability
The most recent tough smartphone from AGM was released in July for $369, but is now $50 off at the AGM web shop. It has a wide range of shipping destinations including the US, UK, and European countries. The phone has a built-in 10W charging port, and an additional dock can be purchased for $20.
Final Words
That concludes the information we have for you about the AGM H5 Pro review. Although it lacks the performance focus of more expensive rugged phones, this one strikes a good balance between form and function with its excellent speaker and night-vision camera for the price. It also has a few tools that could come in handy while working outside or in the field. You may count on it as a trustworthy sidekick whether you’re going on a solitary safari, a group camping trip, or just need something for your regular work.
