Even so, we can’t give this mouse too much praise because it has a few flaws that keep it from competing with the best in a crowded market.

Despite the focus on light weight, Cooler Master managed to squeeze in a spring to help you get the 2.4 GHz dongle a little easier. Quite a nice touch. You can also remove the hatch to reduce the weight a bit, if you’re that picky. There’s also Bluetooth, in case you want to use it with an Android or iOS tablet, or maybe just if you want to use it with your PC and enjoy longer battery life at the expense of slight latency.
As for the grip, the Cooler Master MM731 is clearly optimized for a palm or fingertip grip. It has an elongated shape to support a larger portion of the hand, and it’s also fairly flat so you can squeeze your hand a bit and get a relaxed finger grip. I personally like this shape a lot better than the MM530/MM531, as well as my current daily controller, the Logitech G703.

When it came to connecting, the 2.4 GHz mode was definitely stable and quick. It hooked up our PC to the mouse as soon as it was turned on. During our tests, we didn’t notice any lag in this connection, and it worked perfectly the whole time.

Of course, our review of the Cooler Master MM731 Gaming Mouse won’t be complete until we test the battery and how well it connects. The company says that the MM731 can work for 190 hours on Bluetooth and 72 hours on 2.4 GHz when the LEDs are turned off.
After 12 hours of nonstop use on 2.4 GHz, the battery indicator showed that there was about 80% of power left. We couldn’t run down its battery to see if it really would last 72 hours. But after figuring this out, we thought it would be close to what Cooler Master said it would be.
