The Edifier MS50A wants to do something interesting. It wants to be a full-fledged smart speaker, but it also wants to keep some privacy. And it kind of did what it was supposed to do, even though the user might not be too happy about it. That’s because it doesn’t have a microphone, which is good for privacy.
However, you still need a third-party device to connect with the speaker, so in the end, your information is still collected, just not by the Edifier MS50A. Still, the speaker works with Alexa, TIDAL Connect, and Spotify. It also works with Apple AirPlay 2, which opens up a lot of interesting options. Edifier also says that the MS50A can be used in multiple rooms if you don’t want to use Amazon Music (which has better music file types).

Edifier MS50A review: Design

The Edifier MS50A is made in a way that combines the old and the new. The enclosure is made of walnut veneer, which gives the speaker a bit more weight and makes it look classic and classy. Also, the case isn’t just a square block. Instead, the wood curves around the case, giving it a cylinder shape. We like this method because it makes the device look more expensive than it is, but the “modern method” uses plastics and LEDs. Yiu can buy this speaker from its official website
Edifier MS50A: Features
If you want to improve the sound quality of your Alexa devices, the Edifier MS50A has to fight with the Echo Studio. Going back and forth between the two, the Studio has better mids and features like spatial audio. It’s still an Echo, so it can handle all your Alexa needs without an extra device hanging around. It’s also $50 more expensive than the MS50A, which can add up when you say “stereo pair.”
App and Connectivity

Wethought a “smart speaker” would have a lot more features than this one does. The Edifier Home has an app, but it only lets you set it up over Wi-Fi, turn on Amazon Alexa, make a stereo pair, and select playback from within the app.
The Edifier MS50A is very well made, and it looks like it will have good sound quality (with a small emphasis on the bass, which is what most people like). And it can link to other devices through both Bluetooth and WiFi. So, it looks like Edifier has made a real competitor to the Sonos One.
Edifier MS50A: Sound Quality
When used to make an Alexa smart speaker better, they make hearing much more enjoyable. The first thing that hits me about how it sounds is how well the tones fit together. The bass, midrange, and high sounds are all handled well, and none of them sound too forced or overemphasized. The MS50A has a nice, neutral, balanced sound, with good clarity and resolution at all frequency levels.
Final Words
Even though I know that some manufacturers have rules about whether or not to include Amazon Alexa and/or Google Assistant, we tend to choose Google Assistant for my smart speaker. Also, we would have liked Alexa to come with a microphone so that we could get the most out of it.
Even though there are a few things I don’t like about the Edifier MS50A, we think it’s worth the $150 price tag. It looks good in almost any setting and doesn’t distract or stand out. I think it has the right mix of modern elegance and classic style.

faqs
This is one of the best things you can get for less than $50. When you’re on a tight budget and care about sound quality, it’s hard to find something that sounds good, but the Edifier TWS1 are some of the best cheap earbuds you can buy.
These are great monitors for studios just starting out. For the price, they have an amazing number of good features, like balanced inputs, RCA inputs, and aux inputs.
