Razer Blade 15 (2019) – Introduction
Razer Blade 15 (2019) – Design
Why alter perfection? That was what Razer thought because nothing had changed in terms of the physical aspect of this gaming notebook. He still has the same ultra-thin black aluminum chassis and the illuminated green logo on the lid. It’s best to think of the version of the Razer Blade 15 as an additional model, rather than a brand new entry in the Razer lineup. You do not have to worry about the stagnation of this design, the incredibly thin screen bezel remaining as trendy as Fortnite and the lawyers. The top bezel is still a bit bulky in comparison, but it’s for the 1-megapixel webcam. It’s not that you want to use it, because its video quality is a pixilated and fuzzy horror.
At a 0.7 inches thick and 4.5 pounds, it’s a little less portable than the Dell XPS 15. This time, Razer has slightly thickened the chassis compared to last year, but it is difficult to realize unless the two models are side by side. -Side. Open it, and the smooth design continues to impress. A narrow-rimmed 4.9mm bezel surrounds the 15.6-inch screen, leaving just enough room for the webcam and a discreet Razer logo on the chin. I’m glad that Razer used the webcam very high, rather than removing it for thinner edges, like the Asus ROG Zephyrus S.
The layout of the keyboard is carefully studied so that everything is in the right place. A good range of ports surrounds the perimeter of the laptop. You will find USB-A, a USB-C Thunderbolt 3, an HDMI port and a mini-DisplayPort. If you want an Ethernet port, it is only available in the “Basic Model,” which is a bit thicker and only shows the GTX 1060 for graphics. The options offered here offer plenty of room for gaming peripherals and a USB-C port for the future. The Thunderbolt 3 port can handle an external graphics card for which Razer has become a cheerleader with its Razer Core housings.
Razer Blade 15 (2019) – Display
Razer marked everything with the Razer Blade display … well, mainly because it’s the same as last year, which is a good thing. With a matt coating surprisingly effective against glare, this screen is only 1080p, but it makes the most of it. Much of this beauty comes from the 144 Hz refresh rate of the screen, which softens animations and movements by exceeding the frame rates that the GPU is capable of.
This is The Best case scenario for Nvidia’s new Nvidia ray tracing and super-depth-sampling (DLSS) techniques for rendering lighting in games, with low rates due to these powerful features. Stimulated by this refresh rate. There are also several upgrade options. If you want a 4K screen, you can upgrade it or, if you prefer to play in Full HD, the 144Hz and 240Hz options are also available with the RTX 2070 and RTX 2080 options. For those who have money to spend, you can even pop in 4K OLED if you want the contrast levels and colors to increase.
Razer Blade 15 (2019) – Keyboard
The keyboard and touchpad are great features on the Razer Blade. The touchpad is one of the largest you will find; it is almost the size of the 15-inch MacBook Pro. The extra space is superb and offers ample space for things like two-finger pinches or four-finger slides. The tracking is accurate, and the texture is smooth and, thanks to the Windows Precision drivers, the gestures work perfectly.
All of this is rare on a gaming laptop, even in this price range. The typing experience is also impressive. Although not as good as the mechanical keyboard of the Alienware Area-51m or Razer Blade Pro, the keyboard of the Blade is tactile and responsive. I have some problems, though. The layout is a problem. I complain about this with every Razer laptop, but the full-sized arrow keys create an obstacle for fast typing.
Razer’s ever-changing Chroma RGB lighting has improved this year. It is as brilliant and customizable as ever. All of this is easily edited via Razer Synapse and even comes with 14 unprecedented brightness levels for precise control.
Razer Blade 15 (2019) – Software
I appreciate Razer’s approach of refusing to install bloatware or other applications on a laptop for which users pay thousands of dollars. It’s nice to set up a brand new laptop and not worry about the annoying popups of begging antivirus programs or managing half a dozen applications with single-use cases. The only pre-installed app you’ll find outside the standard Window catalog is Razer’s Synapse program for Chroma lighting programming and customizing various profiles.
Razer Blade 15 (2019) – Connectivity
Available ports are identical to last year’s advanced Blade 15 model with an update: the three Type A USB ports now support USB 3.2 speeds up to 20 Gbps, while Type A ports of last year’s model only supports speeds up to 3.1. It is recommended that you orient the AC adapter cable toward the back of the notebook rather than forward. Otherwise, the two USB ports on the left side will be blocked, as shown in the image on the right. We added the Alienware m15 below as a reference point.

Razer Blade 15 (2019) – Performance
I called the RTX 2070 and RTX 2080 configurations of the Razer Blade 15 for testing purposes and found that these laptops were performing well. The graphics processor and processor both offer The Best results ever seen on a gaming laptop. The processor is fast enough to multitask tasks. There is easily enough processing power here to browse all video games. I’ve never seen the Blade 15 fight with multiple tabs, while resource-hungry titles like Civilization 6 would benefit.
We have tested the Razer Blade 15 with the 8th and 9th generation Intel Core processors, and we can say that both will quickly meet your needs. Choosing the more powerful option will only slightly improve performance, but it is not important enough to make a noticeable difference. So I suggest hesitation if you plan to upgrade. It is the performance of the graphics processor that makes the Razer Blade 15 one of the most powerful gaming laptops on the market today.
Razer Blade 15 (2019) – Processor
The multi-threaded performance is about 18% faster than that of the Core i7-8750H of the old advanced model Blade 15, according to CineBench R15. When you run CineBench R15 Multi-Thread in a loop, you can see a performance drop of 11%, which means that the maximum Turbo Boost clock frequencies are short again.
Some systems with the old Core i7-8750H may run faster than our i7-9750H if it offers better Turbo Boost durability. The Alienware m15, for example, can keep a slight lead over the new i7-9750H of our Razer at the price of higher core temperatures.
Razer Blade 15 (2019) – Conclusion
The Razer blade is expensive, and there is no doubt. But as it replaces a severe gaming laptop and a standard laptop that you could use for work, its price is more bearable. The blade is not just a good gaming laptop. It’s a good laptop, period. The Razer Blade 15 may have a ray tracing feature and one for the Best performance currently available on a gaming laptop, but the lack of support for DLSS, G-Sync and 1G storage.
To make this exorbitant price challenging to justify. If you are happy to spend your money and want one of the most powerful gaming laptops on the market, the Razer Blade 15 will give you at least one performance to brag about. But if you’re looking for a good value with the purchase of your gaming laptop, better alternatives are on offer.
