EarFun is not the most well-known firm in the world of audio, but it is quietly making its way onto our radar with certain speakers and earbuds that are priced similarly to those offered by competitors. The EarFun UBoom L speaker is the most recent of these submissions, and it focuses on the ongoing need for excellent waterproof speakers that can withstand a rowdy pool party while still sounding just as amazing indoors.
These speakers must be able to withstand water pressures of up to 100 metres per second. The EarFun UBoom L Speaker, much like other of the greatest Bluetooth speakers now available on the market, is designed to expressly target both areas by having separate modes for usage indoors and outdoors; yet, we feel that using it outside is more enjoyable.
This speaker features an above average level of design quality and was developed in conjunction with Olaf Lubanski, an Austrian music producer. It may have a relatively unremarkable appearance on the outside, but on the inside, it packs a decent punch and provides an appealing soundscape.
If you combine it with a second speaker, the soundstage will be enhanced even further. It’s clear that its form was designed with durability in mind. You may set it up in either the horizontal or the vertical orientation, and it will balance reasonably well on most outdoor surfaces, even the most uneven ones.

Earfun UBoom L review: Design/Features
When one first takes a glance at the UBoom L, there does not appear to be anything particularly unusual about it. It has the same standard appearance as any other Bluetooth speaker, including a fabric shell and rubberized bumpers on either end to protect the two passive radiators inside.
This is only intended to be used as a lateral speaker, which requires that you lay it down on its side. It is possible to stand it upright, but it does not have a stable footing, and it is very obvious that this was not the idea when it was first created. If dimensions are important to you, the speaker has dimensions of 3.07 inches by 8.26 inches by 2.83 inches, and the top has a tiny slope to it so that the front appears to be more prominent and so that it can be oriented slightly upwards.
With a weight of only 1.43 pounds, it is not difficult to transport, and even if you happen to be careless with it, you will most likely be able to hear it playing. In addition to being waterproof and able to handle saltwater, the UBoom L floats, so even if you happen to drop it in the water by accident, it won’t sink to the bottom like a rock. You can buy this speaker from its official website.
Earfun UBoom L review: Sound quality
Even if a speaker has a lot of cool features, it isn’t worth your time if it doesn’t sound well, and the EarFun UBOOM L does not disappoint in this regard. It works really well for me in my golf cart, which is where we use it. The very tiny upward tilt makes a significant impact, and the sound that we get as we move around is full and rich.
Just placing it on a table will work just as well and will produce sound that will fill the entire space. The outdoor setting increases the power, which makes this fantastic for using during gatherings that are held outside. Because of its diminutive dimensions, transporting it is a snap.
One area in which it fell short was when we tried to watch a video on YouTube on my phone. The fact that the video’s audio wasn’t playing in time with it rendered it absolutely unwatchable.
Wait! Please put the visual mode with the low-latency sound to the test for me! After giving the Bluetooth button a double click, the indicator light for the video mode illuminated, and presto! Both the video and the sound were perfectly synchronised.
Because video mode and TWS are incompatible with one another, it is not possible to enable low-latency sound after pairing two speakers in a TWS pair. This is something to keep in mind. We really wish that low-latency sound was the norm, but we imagine that achieving it would need some rocket science.
Earfun UBoom L review: Performance
Don’t let the fact that UBoom is still relatively new to the market for portable Bluetooth speakers put you off from purchasing one. We evaluated the UBoom L in my backyard while we worked on projects, took it with me in the car to listen to music while we were driving, and utilised it in place of the speakers that came with my laptop.
We were blown away by its performance, especially in light of the fact that it is offered at a comparatively affordable price. What did we enjoy about this Bluetooth speaker, and what didn’t we like about it? Continue reading to discover out.
Earfun UBoom L review: Durability
The EarFun UBOOM L is capable of withstanding a pool party, despite the fact that this is not its intended use. The speaker has a classification of IP67, which indicates that it is completely resistant to dust and water. You shouldn’t have any trouble soaking it in water of any kind.
Please keep in mind that the speaker won’t float if you drop it in the water. Remember that in order to maintain the device’s complete resistance to water, the rubber flap that covers the USB-C and AUX ports must be kept closed at all times. When it comes to the flap, it’s difficult to open it with just your bare hands.
Because it is closed so securely, you will need to apply some effort in order to open it. As a consequence of this, in order to open it, you will either require fingernails that are particularly long or an instrument such as a screwdriver. The longevity of the speaker may be increased as a result of this, but the process is quite frustrating and time-consuming.
Earfun UBoom L review: Battery Life
Control buttons, including a power button, a button for pairing the speaker with Bluetooth, a play button, and separate buttons for increasing and decreasing the volume, are located on the top of the speaker. There is also a button that allows you to switch between the outdoor and interior DSP modes.
The outdoor mode makes the speaker sound larger, and it creates a soundstage that is more expansive. In addition, the power remaining in the battery may be seen via the four LEDs located directly above the row of buttons.
Earfun UBoom L review: Price and availability
In September of 2022, EarFun introduced its UBOOM L Bluetooth speaker to the market. You may purchase it from either Amazon or directly from EarFun’s website for the price of $80. There is only one option available in black, so you can’t choose from any other colours other black, which is a shame because that would have been pretty cool.
Amazon is now offering a discount of 20% off on the UBOOM L model. You have until January 5, 2022 to take advantage of this offer, and you can do so by claiming it by claiming the coupon on Amazon. This will lower the price of the item down to $60 for a limited time.
Final words
The Uboom L is another successful product for EarFun because it provides well-balanced music, strong bass, and a few helpful functions, all in a packaging that is built to last. Nevertheless, we discovered that the battery life was not as long as EarFun had advertised.
