When the HUAWEI FreeBuds Lipstick earbuds came out, we thought the idea was a little silly. It seemed pointless to try to make their technology more feminine, like putting on a little makeup to make it look better. But a few minutes later, we did want them, and we still stand by that.
The HUAWEI FreeBuds Lipstick look expensive and high-end right out of the box, and at $348.99, they are. Everything, from the box to the buds themselves, has a lot of detail and a sleek look. The bright red “lipstick” that the FreeBuds are made of stands out against the black and gold finish of the stainless steel case. They are very different from other types of earbuds. It is, however, easy to mark, so be prepared for fingerprints.

Huawei FreeBuds Lipstick review: Design
The form is the most interesting thing about these earbuds, and for good reason. Even though the FreeBuds Lipstick are a bit bigger and heavier than regular lipstick (the case weighs 84.5g), they are a pretty good copy of the beauty product, which we thought was really fun.
We won’t give Huawei too much credit, and we imagine that these are part of a bigger plan to get more women interested in the company, but we think the design is unique, and the build quality feels very high-end, like a fashion lipstick. You can buy this earbuds from its official website
Huawei FreeBuds Lipstick: Features
These earbuds have two ways to cancel out noise: General and Cozy. We liked both modes, but neither one blew me away. Some of the background noise on the bus, like statements and the engine, was drowned out by General mode. We use the Cozy mode less because it lets in more noise, but we liked using it in a coffee shop while we were waiting for my order because we could still hear my order while tuning out the music playing above. It also worked great at the office.
Huawei FreeBuds Lipstick: Sound Quality
They should also have the same sound. But we like the way the Lipstick sounds better. We can’t look at both models at the same time, so we will just go by what we thought of them before. We remember connecting FreeBuds 4 to my phone via Bluetooth, and the sound, to put it simply, did not impress me. We were able to get the most out of the pair only after we connected through the app. When it comes to FreeBuds Lipstick
Huawei FreeBuds Lipstick: Battery life
Everything about the battery size is the same as the FreeBuds 4. Each earbud has 30 mAh, and the case has 410 mAh more. The specs say that the buds can be used for up to 4 hours without noise cancellation (ANC) and up to 2.5 hours with ANC (at medium volume) on. In turn, the charging case will give you up to 22 hours of power life without ANC and up to 14 hours with it.
So, an hour of listening to music at high volume (90–100%) with the ANC turned off uses up 35% of the charge. In this case, the earbuds will last a little less than 3 hours. So, you can be sure that 4 hours will pass if the volume is cut in half.
Final Words
After using the FreeBuds Lipstick, we realized that Huawei’s new TWS headset is more than just a pretty face. And it’s not just a re-release of the FreeBuds 4 with a new look, even though it’s clear that the buds are very similar.
The best parts are the colors and high-quality materials. The sound is just as good, though. Excellent, even. The best in the class. Add to this strong ANC, high-quality microphones for conversations, a reliable link, and easy-to-use touch controls.

Get the case open. To turn on Pairing mode, press and hold the Function button for 2 seconds, or until the white light inside the button flashes. When you open the case for the first time, the earphones will go straight into pairing mode.
The HUAWEI FreeBuds and FreeLace line of earphones can get wet if they get splashed, but they are not designed to be sweat- and water-proof. The ability to keep water and dust out is not forever, and the level of protection may go down over time due to wear.
