The LG Gram Style, a brand-new member of the company’s Gram laptop series, was recently unveiled with the intention of utilizing the most cutting-edge design and component features. Its glass palm rest conceals a haptic touchpad, much like the Dell XPS 13 Plus; however, LG adds useful LED lights that outline the touchpad and make it simpler to detect. This feature is similar to what is seen on the Dell XPS 13 Plus. In addition to that, the palm rest and the lid are both covered in a material that, depending on the illumination, either changes color or has no color at all.
However, it is not a flawless laptop by any stretch of the imagination. The haptic touchpad isn’t the greatest I’ve experienced, the Intel 13th-gen CPU, while current, isn’t as fast as the other laptops in its class, and the battery life is worse than normal. It’s a faulty notebook with a modern style, and it starts at $1,800, which is quite pricey for a laptop.

LG Gram Style: Design
![LG Gram Style review](https://www.compsmag.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Capture-23.jpg)
When compared to my regular 3.5-pound MacBook Pro 14-inch, the LG Gram Style was a breeze to lug around for an entire week in my backpack. My one and only gripe with the design is that it doesn’t feel very durable. For instance, the Gram Style’s display wiggles when I set it down on a desk, and the chassis bends more than I’d like when we hold it in both hands.
In comparison to other Windows laptops, the Gram Style is immediately noticeable. Both the lid and the deck are made of iridescent Gorilla Glass 3, thus their color changes from white to pink to blue depending on the angle of the light hitting them. It has a sleek design, but when working on a laptop in bright sunshine, the glare can be annoying.
LG Gram Style: Display
Superior OLED screens are increasingly prevalent, and they can be found on devices that cost a fraction of what the Gram Style does. So, it’s not as much of a selling point as it once was. However, the Gram Style’s display is top-notch, making the laptop a pleasure to use with its vivid hues, standard deep blacks, and quick 120Hz refresh rate, which greatly improves the fluidity of Windows 11.
My colorimeter confirms that the Gram Style’s display can hold its own against the best OLED screens. It has a DelteE of 0.70 and a brightness of 423 nits, and it displays a wide color gamut (100% sRGB and 97% AdobeRGB). Similar to what has happened with various types of OLED screens. You can buy this laptop from its official website
LG Gram Style: Audio

Despite having native compatibility for Dolby Atmos, the LG Gram Style’s two speakers and five watts of power can only provide passable sound. When we listened to “Smells Like Teen Spirit” on Spotify, Kurt Cobain’s vocals sounded muffled, whereas SZA’s “Kill Bill” had greater clarity and didn’t distort at high volumes.
However, the music may be muffled if you listen to the Gram Style while sitting on your lap, and if you’re seeking for powerful bass, you may want to search elsewhere. This is due to the placement of the speakers towards the base of the chassis.
LG Gram Style: Performance
When I was testing the LG Gram Style, we couldn’t help but note that its general performance isn’t particularly impressive when compared to the benchmarks. Some of the scores, such as the single-core Geekbench, are comparable to those of most of its rivals; however, other scores, such as the multi-core Geekbench, Cinebench, and 3DMark, are easily bested not just by most of its rivals this year but also by laptops that are over a year old and with specifications that are just as out of date. What’s even worse is that for some strange reason, this laptop was unable to run PCMark 10 without crashing, thus the results of that test cannot even be compared.g
LG Gram Style: Battery Life
About seven hours passed during the film screening. And under typical conditions, we had to plug it in after around six hours of use. It’s not terrible, but it doesn’t live up to expectations for an ultrabook. For the asking price, one would expect a battery life that more adequately reflects the ultrabook’s intended use.
Not only is the charging time slow, but the included cable makes it much worse. Using one of the Thunderbolt 4 ports takes more than an hour to fully charge.
Price and Availability
My review unit of the LG Gram Style costs $1,799.99 (£2,499.98 / approximately AU$2,724), while the base model costs $1,499.99 (£2,399.98 / approximately AU$2,270).
Compared to other high-end laptops, such as the HP Dragonfly Pro or the MacBook Pro 13-inch (M2, 2022), and the Samsung Galaxy Book3 Ultra (which, to be clear, does include a dedicated GPU), this puts it at the top of the price range
Final Words
The portability is incredible, and we really appreciate the high-quality OLED screen, lengthy battery life, and beautiful iridescent body. Ironically, the Gram Style’s slim profile probably stops it from attaining greater cooling and, hence, peak performance compared to other laptops we’ve tested with the same Core i7 chip. Also, it would be nice if the screen wasn’t shaky and the whole thing was more solidly constructed.

The Good

The Bad

FAQS
The LG gram is good for watching movies and TV shows. Even though it has a 17-inch screen, the gadget is still very portable because it is so light. The battery can play videos for more than 9 hours, which is long enough to watch several full-length movies or episodes of a TV show.
The LG Gram can recognize your fingerprint thanks to a small reader built into the power button. After a few taps to turn it on, it was ready to quickly unlock the computer. The fingerprint reader unlocks quickly. Before I could even really lift my finger from the sensor, it was already open and ready to use.
