Tecno Megabook T1 review 2024: thin and light

Even while they occasionally manage to surprise us, many laptop brands continue to produce products that are largely identical to those they manufactured ten years ago, but with newer stickers affixed. The components that go into these machines are predetermined by either AMD or Intel, and as a result, marketing products to the corporate market is primarily an exercise in pricing.

Tecno is not one of these well-known brands, and as a result, it does not adhere to the rules that have been established for play on a golf course. As a result, it does not conform to the standard characteristics and pricing that brands like as Dell, Lenovo, Acer, and other such companies often give.

Build and Design

Since Apple made the MacBook Pro, every company that makes laptops has been rushing to make an Ultrabook that is smaller than any other laptop. The trick, which Tecno engineers quickly figured out, is to make it small enough to use but strong enough to be useful and not too heavy.

This reviewer gave it a high score right away for how easy it was to use when it was opened for the first time. The keyboard is very big and has keys that are easy to tell apart. The power button, which also works as a fingerprint reader, is in an easy-to-reach spot. The touchpad is big and easy to move around, and it works like mouse buttons by having a flexible front edge. Tecno Megabook T1: Features

The 11th Gen Intel Core i7-1195G7 is a good processor and the top model in the Tiger Lake U3 line, which also includes the 1185G7 and 1165G7 models. Its four cores can be slowed down to between 1.3GHz and 2.0GHz, and a single core can be pushed to 5GHz until it gets too hot and needs to be slowed down.

It can use up to 28W of power, but it can also use as little as 12W. Normal Office software jobs probably won’t be too much for the four cores and eight threads, depending on what you’re doing. The Iris Xe GPU is much better than Intel’s Graphics HD GPU, which was used for many years. Overall, if you don’t want to play games, use CAD software, or model and animate in 3D, this platform is more than enough and runs smoothly and quickly.

Tecno Megabook T1: Performance

The Tecno Megabook T1 can have either an i5 or an i7 Intel CPU, but at the time of this writing, only the i5 version seems to be for sale. One of the i7 models with an 11th Gen Intel i7-1195G7 CPU was sent to us. Weirdly, the Tecno website doesn’t say which i5 processor the entry-level model uses, but we’re sure it’s also an 11th Gen model. If you don’t get the 12th Generation Intel chips, you lose a little bit of speed, but the older models are still fine, especially for a cheap laptop. The top-of-the-line Megabook T1 we tried came with 16 GB of DDR4 RAM and an Intel CPU.

Tecno Megabook T1: Battery and Charging

The undertray has a beautiful design and an extended grill that is situated over where the warmer sections of a running system are. In order to remove the undertray, nine Torx T6 screws and some edge clips need to be removed first. Once you open it up, you’ll notice that it’s a very compact design with practically all of the space being used for something helpful. The 70Wh battery takes up the most of the space in the remainder of the system. The M.2 NVMe drive is of the common 2280 version, which makes it simple to remove and replace. In contrast, it looks that the RAM is soldered, which makes it essentially impossible to update.

Price and Availability

This machine was first sold in the Philippines in September 2022, and that seems to be the only place you can get it right now. The company that made it, Tecno, plans to sell it in the EU soon. But at the moment, it’s not clear when that will happen.

We also don’t know how much the Core-i7 version reviewed here will cost, but the Core-i5 version with 8GB of RAM costs $550, so we think it will be between $700 and $850.

A new company has produced a high-quality laptop known as the T1. The system does not make an effort to be particularly clever or fashionable, but it is incredibly cost effective and works really effectively. There is a market for this device in both the European Union and the United States if Tecno can bring it there at an affordable price.
