How to Use Memoji During a FaceTime Call on iPhone and iPad – Guide

On an iPhone X or the above variants, or an iPad with Face ID, you can create a Memoji that suits your personality and mood and use the Memoji during a FaceTime video call with your friends or family. If you have an iPhone, chances are you already have a custom Memoji. But Memojis aren’t just for adding a personal touch to your iMessages or using them as a fun avatar. You can also use them to season up your FaceTime calls or to hide what you just woke up to up face while going out with friends.

How to appear as a Memoji on FaceTime. Memojis capture and mimic your movements, facial expressions and voice and transmit them through a digital avatar. Your iPhone uses the Face ID sensor to record all these movements in detail. When you’re done choosing a Memoji, you should see the character on your face. While your contact still hears your voice, it is your Memoji that is speaking.

How to Use Memoji During a FaceTime Call on iPhone and iPad

Here, go to the “Contacts” tab and tap on the “Search” bar. Search for the contact you want to FaceTime and select their name to open the contact page.

Now, tap on the “Video” button button from the “FaceTime” section to start a video call. The “Memoji” feature also works with group FaceTime calls.

When the video call starts, tap on “Effects” button on the bottom toolbar.

Here, select the “Memoji” icon.

You can now scroll and select a Memoji or Animoji character. Tap a Memoji character to switch to it.

You will now see the Memoji character superimposed on your face.

As you change your expressions and move your head, so will the Memoji character on your face. The other party will hear your voice, but your Memoji character will do the talking.

In fact, you can go a step further and add Memoji stickers on top of your Memoji character. To do this, tap on the “Effects” button button again and choose the “Memoji Stickers” option.

From here, select a Memoji sticker.
