Boot your computer from USB or SD card
With the installation media connected to the target computer, restart or turn it on up. I hope it detects USB or flash storage and gives the option to boot from it. Otherwise, you will need to access your computer’s UEFI/BIOS [LINK] to edit the boot menu. In this case, you will need to prioritize USB or card reader (they are usually considered the same thing in BIOS) before computer hard drive or solid state drive. With this change made, restart your computer. This time it should boot from the ISO file you burned to the USB or SD card.
Ubuntu Installation: A Look at the Options
When the computer starts, you will see the GRUB screen with four options:
In most cases, select Ubuntu using the arrow keys and tap Enter. If your first attempt to install Ubuntu fails and an error message about your computer’s display or GPU (graphics card) is to blame, try Ubuntu (safe graphics). In the meantime, if you want to check if your PC’s RAM is up for the task, use the Test memory option. Once this is complete, you can select Ubuntu and proceed with the installation. The installation environment will launch and you will see the Install screen. Select your preferred language and install Ubuntu.
Try Ubuntu to check the live environment
If you chose Try Ubuntu, you will soon see the Ubuntu desktop. However, this is not the genuine desktop, but a “live” environment. Instead of being installed on your HDD or SSD, Ubuntu is running from system RAM. This gives you the option to have a look around and familiarize yourself with some settings and options. For example, you can adjust your desktop background or launch your browser and access the Internet. If you’ve never used Ubuntu before, this is a good opportunity to learn more about it before installing. If everything seems to work fine in the live environment, you’re in a good position to proceed, so find the Install Ubuntu desktop option and double-click.
