  • Connect your iPhone to your Mac with the USB cable and unlock your iPhone.
  • Open the Photos app on your Mac. You can find it using Spotlight search, the Dock, or opening the Applications folder and selecting the Photos app.
  • Your iPhone should already be selected in the browser on the left of the Photos page. If not, select your iPhone.
  • Select the photos you want to import by clicking on them.
  • Click on Import button on the top.

  • Connect your iPhone to your computer with the USB cable.
  • Open the Photos app on your Mac. You can find it using Spotlight search, the Dock, or opening the Applications folder and selecting the Photos app.

  • After selecting the desired images, click on the Import button button.
  • Once imported, you can view the photos in the Collections menu of the Photos app, or select the Album icon in the left sidebar to view specific albums.

    Some users encounter bugs with the built-in Windows Photos app. If you can’t get it to work and need another solution, try this.

  • Connect your iPhone to your Windows computer with the cable, unlock your iPhone and tap Allow as above.
  • On your Windows computer, navigate to This PC. You should see your iPhone listed under Devices and Drives.
  • Right-click your iPhone and from the context menu select Import Photos and Videos.
  • You can import all new items or click Review to organize and group the items to be imported. I recommend selecting Review because auto-organizing may not be optimal.
  • The More options link at the bottom gives you options to change where files are saved, but for most users the default images folder is fine.
  • Click Next and the computer will scan your iPhone for images and videos.
  • In the following window, select the items you want to import.
  • A slider at the bottom of the menu changes how images are grouped into folders, for example by hour, by hours, by day, by month or by year. You can swipe all the way to the right to save them in a folder.
  • Click Import when you are ready to transfer images.

  • On your iPhone, open the Settings app.
  • Tap your Apple ID profile at the top of the screen.
  • Tap iCloud.
  • Choose Photos.
  • Turn on My Photo Stream.
  • On your Mac, open the Photos app. If you’re on a PC, please download iCloud for Windows before proceeding.
  • From the Photos menu, choose Preferences.
  • Choose the iCloud tab.
  • Check the box next to My Photo Stream. Click Done.
  • Photos will now be automatically added to Photo Stream when you are in a Wi-Fi zone. But remember, photos remain in Photo Stream for 30 days or up for 1000 images.
