How to Add TPM 2.0 support in VMware Workstation Player – Guide
VMware Workstation Pro supports TPM version 2.0, you can enable Trusted Platform Module in the virtual machine. In this post, I’ll show you how to encrypt a virtual machine and enable TPM on a VM. According to VMware, you can add a cryptographic virtual processor that uses Trusted Platform Module (TPM) technology to an encrypted virtual machine. You can also remove the encryption processor from the virtual machine later.
TPM technology provides hardware-based security-relevant functions. A TPM encryption processor performs cryptographic operations. Windows 11 requires TPM 2.0 to be enabled before installing it on a VM. These instructions should help you enable the Trusted Platform Module in the virtual machine and install Windows 11.
In Windows 10, BitLocker is an encryption feature which is available in Professional and Enterprise editions. However, it does require a Trusted Platform Module (TPM) on the system.
Add TPM to VMware Workstation
For this demo I will be using VMware Workstation 16.1.2 and an already built VM. This process works the same when creating a new VM too.
