For example, let’s say that every time we turn on our computer, it opens a browser and then goes to some cool websites. So, all we have to do is automate this routine task so that we can save time and a lot of clicks. Let’s start.

  • Press the Windows key once and type “Task Scheduler”. Open the first result and pin it to the taskbar because you will need it all the time.
  • The UI might seem a little daunting at first, but just follow my instructions and you’re off to the races. Now, click on “Create Task” in the right pane.
  • After that, give your task a name and check the “Run with highest privileges” box. It won’t ask for UAC or ask for any admin permissions before running the task.
  • Now switch to the “Triggers” tab above and click on “New” button.
  • Here, choose “At Logon” option from the drop-down menu and click “OK” button button. You can also delay the task by a few seconds, but let’s leave it for now. As a side note, I always delay my internet related tasks by 30 seconds so the computer can connect to WiFi and be ready on time.

  • Then click on the “Browse” button button and select Chrome on desktop or anywhere.
  • After that, enter your website URL in the “Add Argument” box.
  • You can also add your Spotify playlist or pretty much anything you want. Just be sure to put a space between the sites. Chrome will automatically open these sites the moment you log into your computer. Note that you can simply write the domain name or provide the full https link.
  • Once that’s done, switch to the “Conditions” tab and uncheck both options in the “Energy” section. This will allow the PC to perform the task regardless of battery or charging status.
  • Finally, go to the “Settings” tab. Here, we don’t need to touch anything, but make sure that “Allow task to run on demand” is checked. Also, see other options to understand the scope of what you can do with Task Scheduler. Now, click on the “Ok” button button.
  • You have successfully created a task to open your favorite websites after turning on your computer. You can find your task in the “Task Scheduler Library” in the left pane. If the task is not showing, press the “Update” button button in the action panel located on the right side.
