How to Burn CD/DVD on Windows 10 PC – Guide
If you’re new to Windows 10 and haven’t burned files to a disc before, take a look at how to do it. Over the years, the demise of the optical drive has been largely exaggerated. They are still on many low-end PCs. The same can be said of mid-range and even high-end devices. A new 8GB flash drive suddenly stopped working and I was in trouble. I needed to move some huge video files from one machine to another. I found an unused CD-R that came with my 2001 Plextor CD-Writer when I had no other choice. I was in trouble, and optical media came to my rescue.
Burn and edit files on a CD-R using Windows 10
Insert a blank DVD-R or CD-R disc into your optical drive. A disc burning wizard will appear on the screen; give the disc a title and choose the As a USB flash drive option. This option is the best choice as it will have better compatibility with older versions of Windows
Click Next and wait while the disk is prepared for use.
Browse for any files you would like to add to the disc, click Start > File Explorer > This PC and open the drive that contains your DVD-R or CD-R. Then drag and drop the files you want to burn onto the disc.
When finished, click the Manage tab and then click Eject. Now you can manipulate and edit your files as you would on a standard USB flash drive. I’ll admit it’s a little slow when writing, but it’s just as effective and works in a pinch.
Indeed, a useful trip down memory lane, which can still come in handy if you need to.
